36FL Fridge

Hello! We recently had the high limit switch trip on our norcold fridge. We live in our fifth wheel way up in the mountains and I’m not going to tow it into town to get it looked at. That being said, I want to replace this fridge with a residential one. Have any of you replaced it? Was it easy? What model did you replace it with? We have a 2013 36FL. Thank you in advance!

Very easy to do. We used a Samsung RF18 counter depth frig. There are others, just check measurements. Only cabinet work was removing the storage drawer underneath which was all screwed in. Ours is a RL so not sure how your kitchen is set up. Works great !!

Thank you for the reply! We are pretty excited to get a residential fridge. Did it fit through the door ok?

We installed the same one as Vaughan. It did fit after drawers and doors were removed, but I paid the dealer to do the install, so I thought it was easy. I installed the inverter and wiring, which will be required if you want to power it between stops where you have shore power, or if you wanted to boondock. It is such an improvement over the Nevercold, we could finally have ice cream instead of ice slurry.

You’ll need to take the doors off both the old Nevercold 1200 and also the new frig and they will both go through. Make sure you’ve got a few strong people - both are heavy.

If you do a search here, quite a few threads should come upon replacing. A lot of us have.

We installed a Residential Refrigerator in our 2014 38FL which the kitchen area and Refrigerator area is the same as your FL. (the front living area and bedroom area is little different)
Removing the refrigerator was fairly easy, did have to remove the doors, placed a piece of plywood on the floor so as to not damage the floor.
The NorCold Refrigerator is quite heavy.
Once the Refrigerator was removed, I removed the lower drawer, the Gas Line to the Refrigerator, filled and sealed the hole in the floor and removed the Gas Line "T" under the slide floor. Then I sealed the old Norcold rear vents and lined all the walls with foil covered foam board.
Installed our new Haier Refrigerator (after removing the doors) with ease.
Its been in our FL now for several years of fulltime use, lots of miles with no problems.
The key to the right Refrigerator is getting a counter depth unit, there are several brands on the market. We went with the Haier unit because we do not use the ice maker (it does not have one) and did not like the bottom Freezer Drawer style on some of the other models. We have been very happy with our choice. Haier HRQ16N3BGS 33 4 Door Refrigerator
