Bathroom Fan

The fan in my bathroom will not close when powered off. It opens and the fan runs but it will not close when turned off. I have to close it manually. Has anyone else experienced this or have a solution?

Thanks
Lew

It would help with a solution to know what brand. Fantastic or Maxx Air?
If Maxx Air, I believe their name is Air Excel, give them a call with model # & they will help with diagnosis, they are great folks.

bathroom fan

That happened to mine. I looked up the part on line for the make and model. There is a gear box and a cog was stripped out. Ordered a new one was easy to replace as came with instructions.

Can we ask what model was your maxx air and what was the part no. for your gear box. We may have the same issue.

On the Maxx Air fans you can determine the model number by removing the screen. There is typically a small sticker with the model and serial number there and you can google to find the parts manual for part numbers for your particular fan.

Our Fan above the kitchen area would bounce while almost completely opening and fall back down a few inches and it did that several times and then stopped bouncing. I emailed the manufacturer and they recommended that I replace the gear box. I ordered what they recommended and installed it and haven't had a problem since. A $20 repair instead of a $200+ replacement of the entire fan.

Bathroom fan

Once you get the model number I went searching for that model the web site I used for my model that list the parts was MAXXAIR mavvfan ceiling ventilation fan for rvs | airxcel They list for parts, install and etc The part number for mine was 10-20281K-1AF. I then did a search on the number . There are a number of place to order it from. The site that I ordered it from the price was around 14.00

All you have to do is call AirXcel and they should send you a replacement Gear Box assembly. I have gotten several of them at no charge when ours bit the dust. They know there is a problem with the cheap design, but it's cheaper for them to supply replacements than to fix the problem.
