Thanks JIm !!
I'm sure it's a good possibility. For a number of reasons I will never totally retire. Have a couple irons in the fire that may allow me to travel a lot like Ron (Titan Guy) and get some $$$ out of it. Will know in a little bit.

Thinking really seriously about the Southwest for next winter and open to suggestions and opinions. Especially somewhere that might need a Captain to run a tour boat or sightseeing boat ......... LOL

Well we have been wintering the past two years in Mesa AZ, but lots of people in our area stay a bit on Lake Havasu, Lake Powell, or Lake Mead.

Tom ~ stop over anytime, there will be some variety of adult beverage available. LOL
I'm also curious to talk to you about mods to the truck. Mine is easy to spot, Kodiak Brown Ford with a custom grille and Vietnam license plates.
I just called Gary as he is on the flyer for the IS install. I left a message. Is he the best contact?

I have decided to just do it. Once the IS is installed, no more worries.

Joe...... I just did all this stuff to mine and now you got me thinking... Does it ever end?

How long does it take them to install and can you stay in your rig at night?

Steve

Steve -

The last time there it took 1 full day , and a half day the second day...Yes you can stay in the RV, they give you a key to thier shop so you can come and go.. They will have your name on. A sign in the reception area, and even buy you lunch... I will know next weekend how much of a difference it is from the sre4000 to the IS...

On the last trailer, we crossed the RR tracks in Indiana, and my wife never even felt the trailer cross them.... That was impressive

If I had kept my Redwood the IS system would have been next.

It's not unusual to add accessories to a truck or rv to make it your own. BUT these items or accessories usually aren't for safety issues.

I think it's a shame that using a RV the way that it was designed to be used, yet safety is at risk unless a substantial amount of money is spent to make the RV safe. Ford had some tires blow up and look at the legal issues they were in. GM had ignitions that were bad and look what they went through. Why is it that wheels fall off of RVs and axles come loose.........and nothing. This hasn't been isolated due to owner abuse. I'm sure this issue is found in many 5th wheels but why hasn't someone held these different companies accountable before someone gets hurt?

I wish someone had been honest enough with me when I bought the Redwood and said something like.......It's a beautiful RV that retails for $129,000 but you can buy it for $79,000. Now make sure you spend the other $4000 or else you're putting your life and all those around you at risk. I would have negotiated a better deal.

That's one of the benefits of this forum for those fortunate enough to find it before buying an RV.

If you where to go through the entries, Tires, Brakes, Suspension issues seem to be the biggest complaints. It seems the tire issue has subsided some since Redwood has upgraded the tires. Undercarriage problems seem to be getting a lot of hits lately.

If I was an Engineer at Redwood and reading this site, I would be concerned. As an Engineer and owner, I am concerned. Too many problems for too few people. This site should be required reading for all the technical people at Redwood.

One last thought. I wrote that I solved my fridge problem. Missing gasket. What surprised me, at least two others wrote they had the same thing. How is that even possible? Do they take the doors off to install the fridge and the gaskets get lost during that process?

Just made my appointment with Rob for the IS Install, Aug 10,11. Also having better Timkin bearings put in. Asked about the Never Lube but it sounds like that won't work. Thanks everyone for your input.

So true... I joined as we were looking... with the help of ALL on these forums , I was able to get a list together of known items to look for on my PDI.... '
I also had my "TO-DO" list created for my immediate upgrades .. my not so important upgrades.. and my basic wish list of upgrades .

I factored all those numbers into my big picture , and was happy with the outcome..

Yes and that deal is what pushed me over the edge. Next Tuesday I get my 50 Gallon Aux Tank installed in the Truck. Anything I do after this will be wants instead of needs.

From the "other site" sounds like your off to see the mouse at his house. Now that would be an awesome feeling.

Has anyone every tried to have an informal rally at Fort Wilderness? I would go as my kids won't go with me anymore.

Funny you ask , Jay actually called me as he heard my wife is a Disney specialist travel agent as side work..

We reached out to Disney to try and arrange a Crossroads/Redwood rally this October at the Fort... Disney would not play nice , and long story short they would not give us what we needed for a rally.. all they would give us was sites somewhere in the campground not promising that they would all be in the same loop....

BUT - - there is a rumor that there are a few folks meeting there later this year from the forums....??

We have to go during the summer months as my wife works for the school district and her job is from September to June , with little time off in between.. Not to mention I still have a daughter in school.
