Best Tires for F-450

I still have the original BF Goodrich, has anybody changed tires on their truck yet, what brand?

I'm about to ~ right now Firestone Transport HT are on the top of the list. Replacing the 4 drive tires, steer tires are good for a while. I've got the Generals on my 2013

Just sold my truck that had Michelin LXT M/S2 on them. Loved them. Great traction in all weather. The downside is that because they are soft, they won't last as long as others but I was willing to give up tire life for traction.

I just put new Continentals on our 450 and I am very happy with them. They are what comes standard on the new 450's. Picked them up at the Ford Dealer back in May they had a big tire sale.

Continental HDR 225/70-19.5 G Tire on the rear
Continental HSR 225/70-19.5 G Tire on the front

Truck came with the same tires new and they still had lots of tread but they were over 7 years old and I felt safer putting the new tires on. The tires get good reviews from other 450 owners.

Does that F450 have the large diameter wheels? (I don't know what size they are, but some are the same as my F350, some are much taller wheels)

It does Brad. The earlier ones had the 19.5s I think it was 12,13,14 that had the 17's like ours and I believe '15 went back to 19.5 but not sure of that, might be '16

Those tall wheels look cool! but I just saw a brand new one on the lot Monday that had the same size as me. I always wondered if it was an optional wheel on the F450

I think the 19.5" came on the XLT Lariat and the King Ranch versions of the F-450. I have seen some of the XL's and XLT's with the 17" tires on them.

I agree, I loved the Michelin LTX M/S2. Ihad them on a prior Dodge 2500 and whenever I replaced them I always replaced with the Michelins. I could get 50,000 miles out of them and probably a lot more but the sidewalls would crack after about 3 -4 years and I didn't trust them after that pulling a fifth wheel.

Ya I think only the F450s had the taller wheels, I never saw them on a F350. But they now offer the wide track on the F350, so maybe.....

Well you have many more choices on tires at that size. There was a limited selection on the 19.5" sizes.

I have a 2011 F-450, the 11's and newer (up to 2015 I believe) had the 17's and then they went back to the 19.5's.

I replaced the original rear tires with Michelins and they seem to work fine but I need to have them re-balanced as I have a bit of bounce at 55 MPH unloaded, when hauling the ride is smooth.

I would have liked to get a highway tread instead of a 4 season tread but they don't seem to be available up here in the snowy north!
