Cabinet Upgraded
Removed the "in cabinet" plastic trash can and installed 4 pull out drawers built by a local cabinet maker. Added hinges to the cabinet. More handy storage and quality drawers.

Looks great! Gives you a lot of additional storage in a convenient location. Not sure we would want to find another location for trash bin though.

We were able to find a shorter trash bin. Use the OEM bin below the "laundry shute" in the bedroom to catch our dirty clothes and put cleaning supplies on the shelf below the shorter garbage bin.
Found the big bin resulted in smelly garbage because it took several days to fill it...

Very nice! Actually did something similar to cabinet next to where the oven should be, it was too hard to get on our knees to get into that cabinet & this works fantastic.

Nice Mod but my wife wont let me get rid of the trash can. She has been in love with that feature since we bought the RW. I take out the trash every day don't want smelly trash.

We purchased a nice tall stainless steel with an auto lid at Target . Put it under the end of the island. Fits nice, easy to get to and larger than the in cabinet trash can.
Thanks for the comments

I agree, on the FL's galley kitchen / dining layout, not really anywhere else to put the trash can.
We take the trash out often enough that we have never had a smell problem.

Wow! nice idea! That's a tough cupboard to get into, so I may steal your idea and put it on my honey-do list!

Go for it Ken, that's why we post these mods to share & pick & choose what works for each of us.

Danny can you send me the information on your drawers by the fridge. It looks like you put in two large drawers. Can you please give me some dimensions of the drawers and distance from top and bottom of the cabinet please. I am in process now of replacing the garbage bin, but your mod looks like a very nice addition, I hate cabinets, drawers are so much nicer. Thanks.
