Campground water odor?

Guys, we’re currently camped for a extended time at a campground that is using well water, the water has a terrible odor and is also staining our fixtures? I’ve ordered some Fil-Fresh 1 micron carbon filters to use in our in line water system that came with our camper (2013 36RE), we’re currently using bottled water and a 5 gallon water that the wife purchased a neat little pump for it(battery powered)! Please help us with this odor!!

We also found that in a couple places across the country. Be sure to drain & flush your water heater when you leave there or the hot water will still have an odor for quite a while.

In some parts of the country, well water can be high in iron and sulfur. The sulfur is what produces the odor. I would think that a carbon filter would help remove the odor. The iron in the water will cause a red stain. You may need to use two filters, one to remove the iron plus the carbon filter.

Hope this helps.

If its sulfur in the water it will help some if you fill your water tank and pump out of the tank. Letting the water off gas in the holding tank will reduce the smell some. in a home water treatment system they pump water into a holding tank and blow air into the non-presurized water like a fish tank , the bubbles help remove the smell . Then they re pump the water into the home water system.
