Carefree awning issue.

Does anyone know what is causing the squawking and popping when you extend and retract the awning? I have tried several different lubricants on all the pivots and it just keeps on doing the same thing.

On my awning, it is he Gas Shocks that make all kinds of noise when opening and retracting the awning.
I can spray some lube on them but it does not last long

It looks to me like the groaning and popping is coming from the bottom slide points. It is the piece that slide in the piece that is mounted to the wall of the coach with the groove. I have oiled it also and it helps for awhile.

Also, does your awing start very slow when rolling it up? It gets better when it is up some but I worry if the motor is going to quit when it is so slow at the start???

All same as you guys on my awning except that my rt awning head wobbles like it's seriosly bent, yet it works fine (but slow). During all this wobble, the awning roller appears to be straight.

Anyone with experience disassembling the Carefree main awning out there?

No I haven't noticed it being slow, only thing I noticed is there is less load on the motor when it gets close to in all the way. You may have some kind of problem whether the motor or friction somewhere.

Found mine wobbling early on & when I took it apart found they had cut the tube at at sever angle & mounted the head at that angle (more quality workmanship), straightened as best I could, now it wobbles less. The groaning is the same as Bruce on the bottom rubber like bushing in the tract, so far nothing permanently stops it but a little silcone lube helps for a while.
