Check Your Spare Tire

Something that did not cross my mind when I converted to disc brakes 4 years ago, the spare wheel does not clear the brake caliper. I have not had to use the spare till this past week.

The wheel could have actually been installed backwards if it wasn’t for the valve stem hitting the caliper. It almost seems they drilled the valve stem on the wrong side of the wheel, maybe this is what happened. Anyway, you may want to check yours before you are stuck in a Burger King parking lot after 5pm when most local tire shops close.

EDIT: To be more clear, the diameter was ok. It was the side of the wheel that hit the caliper. Thinking on this further I’m starting to think the wheel was welded backwards.
