Closet rod on 38gk

We started loading our new 38gk yesterday and noticed that the closet rod is mounted close to the door, not allowing normal hangers to hang properly. It appears that the rod is simply mounted too close to the door.

I am thinking about moving the rod. Since we haven't done the pdi, I'm going to ask the dealer to relocate it.

Any one else run into this issue?

Thanks,

Ken

I posted the same issue when we first got ours as that was one of our first indications the designer hadn't stayed in one
Ours stops the sliding doors sometimes, how far back does your rod need to move ???

Really guessing at why they do that, but it seems like at least your and my 38gk has that - maybe that's the only place they can support the rod ends?

What about this:
reverse the center support and, if need be, bend it toward the back,
then figure out if the new location has support behind the side walls to hold the rod ends...
if not, cut and stain a couple of 1x4's to fit between the floor and the rod ends and attach them to the outside walls for support.

The 36 rl is the same. When we were ordering, I asked that it be repositioned, but the factory rep said it had to be there because it was fastened to structural members located there for strength (to carry the weight of what's hanging on it). We did the factory tour last fall and they said that wasn't so, but couldn't say why it's there. Go figure. A couple of forum members have moved it (see earlier posts on this or the other RW forum), but when I asked for specifics, I got no reply. Let me know what happens with yours -- I'd love to move ours if there really is no reason why it is where it is.

We have a 2012 36RL and we only use regular clothes hangers without any problem at all.

Hangers will "fit" if they're angled slightly, but if you try to use one of those zippered plastic garment bags that hold a number of garments (we full time and I use them for out of season clothing) and have a heavy wire frame on top the door "hangs up" on the frame of the garment bag and is really difficult to open (you have to reach in, press the top of the bag down and hold it there while you move the door open)

We'er with Dave and Ginny, regular hangers are no problem. Actually a good feature we've shown to others interested in RWs. Must be the Factory did one of those on the line changes.

Our FB has the same issue but we just turn the hangers to fit. The hangers near the ends won't lay straight anyway due to the curvature of the end-cap. It really hasn't been an issue for us.

We mentioned that problem to our salesman the night we ordered our 38GK. We were at an Rv Show, not at the Dealers, but we were told they had smaller "camper" sized hangers at their dealership.

Well, the dealer moved the rod back and works fine. A few holes, but what the heck, it works!
