Hi Everyone!!
Just wanted to know if anyone has had trouble with their day/nite shades. Our two back side window shades have broken. The strings are all raveled on the top and you can't put the blinds up. Then this morning, my wife was putting up the shade in the living room on the side by the chairs and it just fell down from the top right corner. I called Brian at Redwood and he said he would send us new blinds, but I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem or could it be just a fluke.
The one thing I must say is that any problem or concern we've had, Brian has taken care of us and always willing to help in any way. Way to go Redwood!! It makes us more confident that we bought "the right one"!!!

I just noticedone of the stringsonour living room shade starting to ravel. I stopped using the upper half of the shade in hopes that it will keep the string from breaking. Guess I'll be calling Brian..

It's just too bad with the Redwood being of such high quality that the blinds (or other things in the units) are not of the same quality. We've had our unit for only 6 months and these things shouldn't be happening yet. But then again, it does happen and we are just so thankful to have Brian there at Redwood to be more than willing to help us out with our problems, as minor as they may be.

Redwood offers a product that lists for over $100k but uses many of the same components that are found in travel trailers that list for 1/3 of that. It seems to me that if you are advertising a high quality, residential unit with all the luxuries of home you darn well better produce one or risk going the way of Carriage.
When the auto industry started getting it's components from the lowest bidder the quality of their products went down and so did their sales numbers. As you know they went bankrupt and we taxpayers bailed them out. Ford saw the writing on the wall and re-implemented their "Quality is job one" policy before it was too late and were spared.
Hopefully the high end RV manufacturers will take a lesson from Ford.

Just a tip for those who are ordering a new Redwood.
We were able to change out the traditional day/night shades with the strings and add (at an additional cost) the roll down day/night shades like the motor homes have. There are two different shades included. One is solid to keep light out completely and one is a black mesh material that cuts down on direct sunlight but still allows you to see out. We like the way they work and would highly recommend them to anyone who is tired of repairing those strings on the traditional shades. You can see a similar product at mcdinnovations.com

I'm not overly happy with our shades. The bedroom I like dark and these nite shades simply don't do the job. Soon I'll be looking for some sort of replacement.

Hi Grandpa, Were you able to get the mcdinnovation shades installed by your Redwood Dealer? If so, did you get a credit for the standard day/night shades? I had read about your shades a couple years ago and the folks that had them installed loved them!

I assume they were installed at the factory because the shades were on the original order. Thor makes several motorhomes in addition to their fifth wheel lines. The brand name may not be MCD but they operate the same as the example web site I posted. We paid the difference between the cost of the original shades and the upgrade which was around $1400.

They offered these same shades to us when we ordered our FL but I could not justify the cost of 1200 for 8 windows which are not that big to begin with.

Day/night shades
I talked with the GM of the Redwood plant in Hershey last month and he said they were not MCD shades, and he did not remember the name of the manufacturer. He indicated they tested better than MCD.

Sorry, guess I was wrong. They have been referred to MCD shades in earlier threads but they may have changed or I am simply mistaken.

Boy I sure thought they were MCD all this time.
I followed the MCD instructions to adjust all mine and the instructions were directly applicable down to the white marker on the adjuster.

Might have been, but I was told they were not on the 2015 models.
