Dexter Axle Purchases Titan's Brake Division

The news is out.
We are not expecting any changes for the near future. Dexter purchased UFP Brake division over a year ago and it is still operating independently. The Titan Actuator will probably be offered to the Dexter Distributors.

That seems like a good marriage! I wish we had Dexter axles.

You may already have Dexter axles, when I changed my seals out on our coach a few weeks ago it had Dexter seals in all the axles.

Maybe RW was listening about the cheap a## seals they used in the earlier models, my '13 were NOT Dexter seals.

Unless LCI bought Dexter, I don't think they would put their name on them. My axles have giant LCI component labels on them.

They must have put on whatever they had handy. Our '13 has Dexter axles.

Are you serious? Are the axles actually labeled Dexter??

That is an absolute no-no with Redwood. It goes against the Falcon FIT concept which is exclusive to Lippert Components. Using a Dexter Axle would blow that marketing advantage.

See the Falcon FIT Advantage table - Falcon Integrated Technology - Redwood RV :: Full-Time Residential Fifth Wheels

You are sure you don't have this giant label in the middle of your axles?

If there are any Dexter tags on axles or brakes, they have been replaced.

Good grief, manufactures have been buying other suppliers products and putting their name on them since the beginning of time, this is not rocket science here. If it has Dexter seals and bearings it is a Dexter axle, I don't care what sticker it has stuck on it.

Not in this case. You don't have Dexter axles. LCI won't label a product unless they own it. They aren't like Sears.

I can order Dexter seals and bearings for my LCI axles, the bearings and seals are interchangeable.

My Lippert axles came with Trail-Air equalizers and have Kodiak disk brakes because I ordered them and they came with chinese bearings/races and seals. I now have Mor/Ryde SRE-4000 equalizers, heavy duty shackles and Timken bearings/races and seals because I installed them.

If you ordered disk brakes for your Redwood, they may have come with the Dexter bearings/seals. But, it is most likely that the axle tubes/spindles are LCI. That is just the agreement that Redwood has with Lippert.

Our axles have Dexter tags on them with the part number below the name. No LCI tags anywhere. Don't know how or why, we bought it off a dealers lot in Sept. of '12 and it has regular electric brakes.

Was it a used or new unit?

Maybe something happened in transport? Maybe something best left for the past.

Really, your entitled to full disclosure. It might be worth asking the Dealer, or even Redwood as to why you have Dexter axles. Maybe Redwood stepped outside the FIT concept to keep production going, but I don't think LCI would like to hear that.

You may have one of the first ones built, they had Dometic frig, tire pressures monitors built in & several different items not used since, maybe they did use Dexter axles briefly.
