Disc Brake Demo conversion at Rally

6/23/15 I bought a new 38GK and will be doing a Disc Brake Conversion at the Rally on 8/6 starting about 9 am. I anticipate about 4 hours to complete. I will have some help so plenty of time to talk to you as you stop by.

I did the conversion on my Montego Bay.. After 300 miles I was burning up pads... Had the trailer facility working on it for weeks..Ford said it was the brake system..Kodiak said it was the actuator.. Titan said it was Ford... And so on... They had pressure gauges on it , it all looked to be good , until I started driving.. 3 trips around our neighborhood and I could see smoke coming off the pads..I actually melted the seals around the calipers... Replaced all and tried again
I pulled it out and went back to electric..

Ron- we will be in Monday afternoon also. Let me know if you need ny help.
Looking forward to meeting you .

Can't remember if you sent me info for your site sign. If not, please let me know your last name. PM is fine.

I started doing the lettering for the signs yesterday. These are plastic Rally signs, just so everyone knows, not high quality everyday markers. Look pretty good, if I do say so, for an event sign. Can also be reused for future events.

Ford Truck,
A very unusual situation. I have never run into anything like what you are describing. There are multiple possibilities for the brakes being activated without pressing the brake pedal but as far as I know they are all traceable and easily fixed. Too bad your first experience was a bad one.
If you are interested, I will install an electric/hydraulic disc brake system initially at no charge. If you like it you pay for it. If you don't like it, I will take the system off and reinstall the electric brake system at no charge to you.
You can contact me at 405-626-7009

I would consider this time well spent. Let me know how to locate which rig will be receiving the conversion. Thanks.

A complete DIY kit is $1750.00.
Typical installation is $1000.00

Is the $1000 for labor? I was thinking I read on this forum that the conversion took 4- hours.

Install is typically 8-10 hrs. At the rally I will have 2 people plus myself so I don't expect it to take more than 4 hrs

The labor cost makes this a great DIY project. It is not difficult but it does take some time.

Bob , I originally paid $4,000.00 for the set up... The installer did credit me parts back once it was returned to drums...
