Do I have a problem ??? ( with my AC )

This is the first we have used our RW in EXTREME Sun and heat... The temps are right around 100-103 with heat index of 110+...
The trailer is in the middle of a wide open lot in direct sun from morning to night... The AC's are holding the inside right around 84?? As soon as the sun gets low , the inside temps drop to the low 70's.. Last night , they hit 68 by 8pm inside . . .
My darling wife ( who is NOT on here ) says we are ok... 1/2 of me agrees . .the other half likes to argue for no reason....

Sounds like you're camping in the middle of the Mojave desert.

Some may disagree, but I most often am satisfied if whatever building I'm cooling is around 20 degrees cooler than the outside air. Yes, 103 outside is hot, and it is very humid which is a killer for air conditioning systems. If you were parked in Arizona in 103 heat, I bet your Redwood interior would be in the mid seventies.

What I have noticed about ours when parked in direct sun light is the walls heat up. That will keep heat behind the thermostat making it run more. With the thermostat mounted on an internal wall and a shoe closet directly behind it, we can crack the door of the closet and it work much less and keeps the temperature at +\- 1 degree of what the thermostat is set at.

Today, the humidity is lower. ,the temps are still around 95.. We are holding at 79 inside.. I think a lot of it is because of the black exterior...

I have to agree as my RL has black & silver FBP. But I still know something is wrong because I have lots of cold air leaking out of light fixtures. Ugh. How to get up there to fix anything is a mystery. Anyone ever pull a ceiling panel??

Some of the leaks may be due to backpressure and not enough free flow from the A/C Duct system due to a couple of things.

1. Not enough supply registers, the A/C system must have a minimum of 5 ceiling supply registers per A/C unit
2. The supply Register Collars sticking up into the Duct and blocking air flow

The areas I noticed that a lot of heat is transferred (besides the Windows) is the metal studs in the walls. WOW!! Run your hand along the walls where the sheets of plywood butt together and every 24" is a wall stud.

Might be the color???? We were just up the road at Ocean Lakes RV Resort and about the same temps but maybe a little lower on some days and we were holding in the high 70's during the day with both running on high fan. Morning when I got up I was at about the same at 68 and almost felt cold but I'll take it.

Met a fellow RWer in Kennewick Washington with the silver/black paint & he said they couldn't get below 85 inside, after discussing the forum solutions with him he removed all the collars from the vents & sealed the duct around the opening to the ceiling & reported they were able to get down to low 70s afterwards. His problem was 1 1/2-2" duct with a 1 1 1/2-2" collar on the vents, DUH!

How do you remove the collar?

I just did this to my bedroom 4, and bathroom...
1st you pry off the white outer cover with a butter knife...
2nd -you remove the 4 screws holding the collar/louvers in
3rd - carefully pull the assemble out , Mine were very tight , once out measure the distance from the ceiling to the edge of the vent.
Cut the collar to be that same amount, reinstall everything...

My bedroom vents were better then tha bathroom..virtually no air flow in the bathroom, now I caught my wife closing the vent earlier , said she was cold..
When I get home I will do the rest of the vents ( after getting my step stool).., but just by doing the upper half , I have seen a huge improvement,..DW was wearing a hoodie last night !

A hoodie. That's something I didn't consider.
Maybe I should rethink upgrading my AC system afterall...

The collars twist & lock onto the louvers, cut or remove , your choice.

Strange thing about the RL...
Last night, I did the vent collars and foil tape in bedroom/bathroom also (which has always had lame AC volume).

I stuck my phone in the duct & took a picture and it showed the duct continues another 4ft beyond the farthest louver - all the way into the closet/front cap.

Can anyone explain the need for this? Why didn't they terminate the duct just beyond the farthest louver? Should I foam/foil it myself?

If it were me I'd had an outlet in the closet if it runs that far.
