Anyone having a problem with their main door or front door top shock mount always coming loose and finally stripping out? Has anyone install a insert or through bolted it and install a Nylock lock nut on the back side.
I don't want to add a bigger screw taken a chance it will strip out.

I had that problem on my 38br back door. RW sent me a -12 power one and I had a smal bolt installed.

PugBoys Small bolt? Do you mean something like a 10-32 bolt that they drilled through the door and installed? Bolt head on one side and nut on the other side of the door? Or did they install a nutsert? Where the inside of the door surface is the same.

I believe the only units with the door struts are the units with 2 doors (but I don't know why). I was going to have my dealer install one on my trailer but he claimed they required too much attention. According to him they get bent easily and the mounting hardware was troublesome. But maybe he didn't want to sell me one for some reason.

This is what Im experiencing now! The screws are pulling out of the door. I had to tighten them up before we left the dealer thinking that would be it but when I got home the door mount keep loosening up and fell off once from using the door. The more you used the door the more it loosen up. 2 of the screws striped out and now the third one has. So I just took off the shock and put a piece of tape over the holes till I get to the factory OR decide if I'm going to put in a nutsert or just go ahead and drill through the door and install bolts with Nylocks and sealant. It need something because if the wind catches the door the paint will get ruined from it slamming into the awning mounts.

There has to be some sort of door stop you could put on the awning support. I have the same paint colors that you have and I went to Ace Hardware and found stick on door stops that I put on my RL to protect the paint.

If you don't have one DONT get it! I'm thinking of some other way to help out my door. The FL's are different because they open up on to the awning support. So I cant use the door stops like they put on the other doors. The other problem is that if the door is opened to far when you open the awning it will damage the door. I like to know more about the lighter shock. I just need something to hold it a 90 degrees. I wish it would swing out of the way like the back door but that is impossible. And I would like to be able to do something with out drilling more holes in the side.

I'm sorry to hear you're having problems, I'm sure Redwood will figure something out for you. Maybe they can address this at the Rally

On our 38 BR we only have the shock on the back door to stop the door before it hits the dinette slide. The front door swings open all the way and is tied back by the standard RV door latch. We have had no issues with the shock yet, however, the door binds against the drip trim around the top of the door opening. May have to file down the door to stop this... other option would be to remove the trim and reattach to clear door meaning more holes in my unit.
