That CRC is great for the Schwinteck slide system, but I haven't found it to be very useful on hinges. Ours door creaks, and I give it a CRC bath and within 2 days it is doing it again.

I am showing this thread to the engineering guys/people in charge. We need to keep this from being a problem in the future, for sure!

And like many have said before me, DO NOT sign on the dotted line until it is exactly the way it is supposed to be! Though we need to do some research on RW's end to get this issue corrected permanently, the Dealer needs to be held responsible for his fair share. Please please take the advise of all of the owners on this forum and make sure they fix it before you take it home!

If you have any issues, or if they give you ANY push back, please contact me directly!!
I'd be happy to help!

Things can need adjustment after the first travel especially IMO. Dealers are supposed to be the ones taking care of that.
I've been on lots where trailers are for sale that have cupboard doors laying on the counter and lights laying in the sink along with big cracks in cabinet fronts to name just a few .... And they have them open for customers to look at and inspect for potential sale? No quality control at the dealers at all. This was not Redwood brand but two other sister brands at two different dealers that I did not purchase from. Hold the dealer accountable and the only way is to do a very through pre delivery BEFORE you sign on the line, not to your liking ... Don't sign .... Once they have your cash and signature you have 0 leverage.

Our last Dealer had a bad habit of stripping parts off another rig to keep a customer happy. Lesson learned there - don't ever buy one of his inventory units You could never keep track of everything he took off of it for another customer.

Just showed this thread to Redwood's GM, who immediately spoke to head of production about it. I think they are meeting to discuss a fix going forward. They saw the whole thread, so they are aware of how many people are having this issue. Sorry for not having a concrete answer here, but know that the info has at least been passed to the correct hands/minds! If I here anything specific that could be helpful in the meantime, I will post it ASAP!

Went to the dealer yesterday. Had a meeting with the local managers. They are going to be in touch with to see if something can be worked out. I'm personally nervous about going into a coach that will need a modification out of the box. Isn't that what R/D is for? Also, I did take notice of the flimsy power cable door. What's up with that? Has anyone had any luck installing an after market hatch in that spot?

Thanks for your feedback.

Forgot to mention. That entry door is sticking, difficult to shut. Hasn't even left the lot.

Coming up with a fix won't help those with expired warrentys.

I think all of those with the new anti-sail door hinges are still within warranty. Mine is the older style door (different vendor door) and I just rolled out of warranty a month ago.

Plus warranty doesn't start until it's purchased, not by model year.

We had the exact same symptoms, they replaced our lock...then it worked great. Then our lock broke again, back to hard to open and close. Lisa can't open it most days. But, we expect if they fix lock, it will work again.

OMG! Here's ONE MORE STORY ABOUT THIS! We have been waiting for over a month for our new door. It is supposed to arrive today, via freight truck. It has been a month since the dealer submitted the claim to RW. We have sold our home and are moving into our rig full time until new house is finished in Feb. We are closing escrow on the 17th. How disheartening to read so many other horror stories, especially when it seems the fix is no better than the problem. Wonder if there is an after market replacement that would fix it correctly? Wish I could get away with fixing a defect with another defect in my business!

Kent,
What is happening to your door? Same stiff hinge or something else?

The door is hitting the frame on the upper left corner. Had to slam the door to close it. I thought something was wrong with the hinge because the door was so stiff, then I learned here on the forum that it is the anti-sail that makes it that way. The dealer is replacing the door and re-painting the door and frame. The service writer said he was familiar with this problem, had dealt with it before, but not all of the RW had it.

Thanks, I was curious. I have the older door that isn't the anti-sail.

At some point they changed the door and exterior cabinet door manufacturer. I have the white trim around the doors, I think the new ones are black.

As I said earlier, why can't they remove the antI sail hinge & replace it with the older style?? Seems like the simplest fix to me.

Since the door had been like that from when we took delivery, I had assumed that it was the anti-sail hinge that was causing the door to close roughly. It was actually my service advisor that noticed the door hitting the frame. He said he had dealt with this before and they had an idea as to what to do. When their tech looked at it, he said that it was "shot, unrepairable". I don't know if it was the hinge or what, but they are replacing all.
