Guy,
I only travel with some fresh water, never with gray or black tanks even partially full. I had over a month living in the rig to do an extended PDI for about 5-6 weeks after delivery. One of the tests I did was to fill the black tank to the 'burp'. That's when I noticed the leak.

The tank photo is attached. BTW, those are not my fingers in the black tank!!

Ken,

Thanks for the picture. The tank material looks like polyethylene and the vent pipe fitting looks like PVC. Can those materials be solvent bonded or is the spin weld the only way to weld them together?

Guy,
You got me. Not sure how the repairs were done except they replaced the tank and used the existing vent pipe. I kinda doubt they spin welded the repair. They did use the existing vent pipe which I believe was ABS.

I do know that the shop was really impressed with the quality of the installation of the tanks in general. It was a big job getting the black tank out, over 9 hours in total,

you might be able to use ABS black pipe glue, it is what I use here at our rv park when I work on septic pipes.
