Fan Vent Covers...

My 38RL is at the dealers shop to replace a front jack. The service tech mentioned putting fan covers on. Said they highly recommend doing it. The quoted price is ridiculous though. This appears to be something I can easily do.

Both of my fans however are not Maxx Fans, only the kitchen. I'm not sure what brand the bathroom fan is. I'm asumming the Max Air II cover is the correct one for the kitchen. Anyone know if it can be used for the other fan as well ? Or would a Max Air I cover work for it ?

Yes, they are easy to put on... so bargain with them

Which cover you get depends on how much air flow and opening you need... in most cases, they were just used to let the heat out rarely for us, so no big deal if if flows 10% less air or doesn't let the cover open all the way ...

Show them the internet price and see what they say - for $50 I'd let them install them so I wouldn't have to get up there

The Maxx Air II should work on the Fantastic fan in the bath also, it may have to be drilled to be mounted, the others are drilled already, but shouldn't be a problem. The most difficult part of the job is getting on the roof. I wouldn't pay their $100-125 per hour to do it, its not difficult.

If you open the Maxx Air fans doesn't the cover have to be tall enough to allow the unit to open all the way to keep from burning up the automatic opening unit?

No, the motors will torque out & stop, had mine on since day one & no motor problems. I have replace 2 of the operators, but it wasn't due to the covers just weak/cheap parts.
