Fantastic fan living room

Trying to get our fan working in the living room. It will open and close but will not turn on. Any ideas ?

Is the fan stuck, try to turn the blades. I had a fan motor fail on my old Holiday Rambler , it started working after I gave it spin and a light hit on the top of the motor. I believe it had a brush the was stuck and the spin and light tap cause it to make contact in the motor again. I didn't own it long after that to figure out if this was the first sign of the motor getting ready to expire.

There is a spring loaded switch on the fan frame. When the lid opens the switch pops up and turns on the fan. Sometimes this spring-loaded switch does not pop up or get stuck in place. You will have to go up on the roof and locate the switch and manually open it. Sometimes the problem can be resolved by spraying silicone lubricant on the switch.
