Flooded RV/Truck

I live in sunny San Diego, and after a short vacation and a rainy couple of days I come home to this. Insurance claims have already been submitted. My guess would be a total lose for both the truck and the RV. Water did get inside the belly of the RV, inside the main living spaces, and also roughly 1.5 FT inside the truck. Anybody ever been in a similar situation? any insight would be lovely.

Tough, but you are correct to take LOT's of pictures as backup for your claim.

Save all documentation going forward, including noting date/time/who/notes of phone calls/conversations... Also include pics of what all is in the basement/cabinets/etc...

Good luck - you get to pick a new RV and Truck

(or buy them back if you think it's a smart move - less likely)

Definitely push to total both if insurance company doesn't do that. It's wet high enough up that there will be a never ending list of problems if either is "fixed"

As John said - lots and lots of pictures and I would also consider getting an independent appraiser / adjuster who works for you.

Sorry for your loss.... There is NO WAY I would accept the fact that the trailer would not be totaled... With the height that water hit, you would suffer major damage in the walls and floor..

Just a huge breeding ground for mold... I hope it all works out for you..

I know a guy over on RV.NET that had the same thing happen to him.. The insurance made it VERY easy for him with no help from adjuster... He even upgraded with little to no hassles.. Lets hope you have the same experience

The RV was towed today, but the tow truck they brought for the truck "was not big enough" hopefully they can assess the RV and Truck quickly so that I can just move forward!

So sorry you came back to that. Here's hoping all goes smoothly as you work on getting everything taken care of. Even with insurance, it's still heartbreaking!

It's hard to say that I am glad the RW is totaled . . . But in the big picture, that is the best outcome with the amount of water involved. Good Luck with resolution on all . .

Agree with Joe. Hopefully they will do same for truck. Anytime there is that much water involved, the residual effects down the road are unpredictable at best.

Fingers crossed for you.

If you can push real hard to have the truck declared totaled as well. I've heard horror stories about flooded cars and trucks that experience electrical and rust issues later.

And it's amazing how many flood vehicles are reportedly resold.
