I received a couple of quotes on insurance and I would appreciate your opinion. The rates on the truck seem very reasonable. But the rates on the 5th wheel are right around $1100 per year. Does that seem reasonable.

Thanks for your input.

Sounds about right. Mine is through Progressive and I think that's about what it is. That's with every option that Progressive had for extra coverage, including full replacement on the unit

Rick

I wonder if it has to do with "full timing". We are not full timing (yet) and ours is about $450.00/year with replacement through GMAC.

That's about what we have - it depends on your deductibles and the amounts for the various coverages and where you live. We don't full time, but I remember they asked how many days we would be in the RV - if it was over a certain number (sorry, can't remember that number, but not a huge one) than it was more than just vacation insurance. Also depends on other vehicles.

Your location also impacts the premium. We live in the middle of FL, but will have our Redwood in St. Augustine more than six months per year. The premium was about $300 per year higher for the costal location, but I wanted to play it safe in case we have an issue and an overly aggressive adjuster is on the case.

The total annual cost was about $1000.

We also went with Progresssive with full replacement cost for the first 5 years--a new comparable model if totaled--and purchase price coverage thereafter as opposed to "market" value or depreciated value.

I just did a quote thru GoodSam/GMAC for both the TV and RW. They came in a little lower on the TV, but quite higher on the RW, so I renewed with Progressive.

I have Good Sams for everything, plus I have extended warranty and roadside assistance that includes towing and hotel. I also financed the Redwood through them. More of a reason for them to take care of things, they have interest in it.

Went thru Dougherty Insurance (right by Alternative Resources in SD). We found Allied Insurance to be the best rates for us. I tend towards higher coverage, lower deductibles. etc. - best price by far.

That's who we have. very good price.
We should get a kick back for our unit. It just stays in the repair shop.
Nothing can go wrong, if you can't use it.
