I've had my 38BR for more than a year. After just returning from a trip from Scottsdale to Montana I'm done. I have been a good supporter of the Redwood but not now. My trip ended up with me using duct tape, baleing wire and bungee cords to make it home. An awning that would not retract, a belly pan that dropped on the road (for the second time!), a MaxFan that won't open or close, hot water that drips from the kitchen faucet...well, you get the pic. Putting it on the market next wheel along with the Chevy that pulled it.

Ah the RV Life. If that kind of stuff frustrates you, then selling it is probably the best. Other than the belly pan, none of the fault really lies with Redwood, rather the awning-fan-faucet manufacturers that are generally the same for any brand or manufacturer.

Unfortunately there aren't many suppliers to pick from. I think if my faucet starts leaking I'm going to replace it with a home faucet. It'll be a little heavier but better built.

The rving and full timing lifestyle isn't for everyone. I guess if we all liked the same thing, it would be a dull world. We have been frustrated at times with things that happened and the way things are going, but our love for this lifestyle has always outweighed the downside. Hope things work out for you.

RV's, airplanes, boats and marriages . I love them all but......they all take a lot of maintenance and well worth the hassle.

And if you think RV's are bad ~ take it from someone who is also a Delivery Captain for boats ............. you Definitely DON'T want a boat.
The stories I can tell about boat trips gone bad ..............
Let's just say a couple hours by the roadside doesn't compare to 4 days in the middle of nowhere with a sick Diesel ....
Just my .02

Vaughan - I can relate to that, we should sit down and swap sea stories when we meet up on the road.

I think that's a must do Andy. We'll tell the girls to go shopping 'cause they'll both be tired of us very shortly !!
Let me know when you come eastward and we'll meet somewhere for a few days. I need an excuse to go to Canada again or upstate New York or New England or Nova Scotia, etc ................

Vaughan - We get back from visiting our son in Dubai on July 1st 2014 and plan to head East starting mid July.
As we are limited to the number of days we can spend in the US, we will stay on the Canadian side of the border until Ontario, and then drop down to Indiana for the Rally next August. Then back across the border and out to Nova Scotia, etc. before heading South well before it starts to get chilly. I would also like to spend time on the Eastern seaboard before it snows, as back in my days deep sea the cruise ships really only used Fort Lauderdale.
Once we firm up dates and locations I'll send you a note.

Andy, that sounds good.I think you still have my email and phone. Would look forward to it. Maybe we can pick up a couple more RW's and have a convoy. Lol
Brad, you need to be into boating on the East Coast. Last boat I brought north (in April this year) was a 52 Regal. We were going through $1000-1300 of diesel a day. Then throw in slips, meals, crew etc ..... Total delivery from Port Canaveral FL to Annapolis MD was almost $16

I could never imagine trying to keep fuel in one of those big beauties! A week at Lake Powell and two tow vehicles to get it all there is bad enough, so bad we didn't bother that last two years.

Most fuel thirsty one I ever ran was a 57' Viking Sportfish with a pair of 16v92 Detroits in her (yes, 16 cylinders). 1450 hp each. She would cruise at 31 kts and our fuel burn was 134 gals per hour with one of the two generators running. Ran her from Annapolis to Palm Beach for 4 years. Made 5 marinas real happy each way each year....

Is fuel pretty consistent pricing at the marinas with what is going on here? Do they use ULSD?

Vaughan - for operating just 16 hrs per day I used over $1M fuel per month, but I did have 20,000 HP on main wheels and 2,000HP bow thrusters.
Can you drop me an email with your contact details again, as I had a system crash not long ago and I didn't have some things backed up. I'll send a PM with our email.
