Generator wiring harness

Hello all, I recently bought a 2014 RW38RE14 unit. And I'm trying to install an Onan 5500 generator. I bought the RV from the original owner who never had a permanent generator installed. But I can't seem to find any kind of harness that was installed from the factory anywhere. It does not have a transfer switch installed in the battery bay, which makes me wonder. It does has a surge protector installed (although, I'm not sure if that was a factory installation or not), and after some pretty close inspection in the basement, I don't see any extra wiring anywhere. Long story longer, does anyone know if the factory did install a harness for future generator installations in all units, and if so, where would it be? Thanks in advance, and for listening to my ramblings...

Simple answer NO
There were originally three options:
1-No generator
2-Generator Prep, includes transfer switch and wiring
3-Installed Generator, ready to go
Sounds like the unit you bought was number 1, no genny or prep.
Do you even have the generator hour meter and start switch inside with you other switches, Water Pump, Hot Water Gas and Electric, Slide Control Switches etc.?

To add to what Michelle wrote about item #2. If Generator prep was an installed option then a galvanized enclosure for the generator would also have been installed. If that galvanized enclosure isn't there you probably don't have any wiring prep done either.

Thank you all for the info. I spent all day yesterday installing the onan into the bay in front, installing/extending the shore power cable to the front also. Now I gotta get the remote start harness to the front as well as build a metal enclosure for fire safety, mount and wire the auto transfer switch, and install the remote start switch. Whew, man am I sore from rolling around in the basement, and climbing in and out of the pass thru storage compartment. Should be done somewhere about December... LOL. Thanks again for the help.
