Talked to RW today and they did forget it. (duh) Had to call dealer to tell RW to send them a handrail so I can drive 80 miles to pick it up. (another duh) Going to make my own.

80 miles? Worth it. I drive 80 miles to my storage building.
I guess I'm not a wood guy - if the factory is willing to send me a matching part - I'd make the drive.

If the drive is a problem, tell the dealer to ship it to you. Maybe if the dealers were inconvenienced or out some shipping cost this silly parts crap would stop. At the very least tell the dealer to put their name & your address on shipment from RW.

If your a wood guy.... you can make and finish the hand rail better then RW in about 1 hour so I wouldn't make an 80 mile trip either.
Just my 2 cents.

OK...help me with this. RW did not install a required part on your unit. Why are you being inconvienced due to their obvious mistake? The part should be shipped to you direct, and they should re-emburse you to have it installed locally. Just my opinion.

I don't think Redwood would be responsible to ship or pay install by a third party if you are only 80 miles from a Dealer. They would probably be more than happy to ship it to the closest Crossroads Dealer and have you bring it in to get it installed, but then you fall into the 4-12 week backlog the Dealer may have.

When I toured the RW facility, they seemed to be very confident and proud of of their manufacturing and quality control processes. It's readily apparent that they are lacking in these areas. What price are they willing to pay to get it right?

I hope that Christian on this forum ( From Redwood) & others in management are keeping tabs on the many (negative) issues that we're experiencing as customers such as "forgetting" ?? to install this handrail during production (inexcusable). Who's responsible during/ after assembly to inspect these expensive units BEFORE shipping ??? Sounds like management needs more accountability with the person(s) hired for the final inspection process & if they aren't up to par get someone who is. My opinion.

It's not so much the drive as it is the inconvience of myself and the dealer. Why can't RW send ME the part? So this is how it's going to turn out...
1.phone call to RW explain how they forgot a part
2.phone call to DEALER trying to explain how they have to order missing part
3.many phone calls to dealer to see if they got the part
4.part arrives at dealer and sits until I call to see if it's there yet
5.dealer says they will deliver and install part (yeah)
6.after many cancelled appointments by dealer, part gets installed
What it comes down to is a $10 part costing $100's in time and labor for someone. How does this make sense? UPS me the part that I can install with a little common sense in 10 minutes. After all, I'm retired and having nothing better to do.

How does your truck manufacturer handle that stuff after the sale? If they forget to install the spare tire, do they mail it to you? Probably not.
Ask the Dealer to ship it to you, he might.
Remember the Saturn commercial where a factory worker in uniform hand carried a seat for a Saturn to Alaska and installed it in an Eskimo's car for customer satisfaction - heart warming commercial eh? Saturn didn't make it another year.

Yes...but there is probably a dealership for our trucks closer than 80 miles. Additionally, it probably wouldn't take them a month or two to get the truck serviced.

I don't know - they sure thinned out a lot of the redundant dealerships during recession. Might be a longer drive to a truck Dealer than a Crossroads dealer for some.
Like I said the Dealer will probably ship it. Mine did for several items that were after the delivery, bedspreads, pillows, valances, and he was over 900 miles away. Eventually I started working through a local Dealer, but the selling Dealer never had any issues with shipping to me.
As far as 80 miles - I store my Redwood 88 miles away and have to park it there everytime I use it, so I'm not seeing the hardship. My current Dealer now is probably at least 50 miles away.

I don't think the drive would bother me so much, it's just I don't understand the whole not shipping to me the parts I need. I guarantee I have more incentive to replace/repair my rig than any chuckle head at some dealership.
Brad you choose to store your rig 88 miles away, he didn't choose RW to forget to finish building his rig.

ya but whether its broken or forgotten pieces, they are really only obligated to work through the Dealer. Chev would never send you a part direct.
Not that I like it, it just seems to be the latest Redwood policy. I original got parts direct from Redwood factory.

My local dealer told me that they would order parts for me; however, they had to do the installation. Then the next statement, it would be about month before they could actually do the work! I'm talking about parts that I was going to pay for out-of-pocket. I would rather do the work myself. Wish I could by-pass the dealer completely...seems to me they have more than enough business.

That issue is going to be brought up at the Rally. Really puts a damper in a guy that likes to do his own work.

Our rw was supposed to have G rated tires, when we got it home I noticed it had E rated tires. I missed it and the dealer missed it,rw shipped me 5 G614's I told them I would be happy to swap them out so it wouldn't have to set at the dealers till they got around to doing it.
