Hi Everyone, We have a Redwood 31SL and had a question about the gray tanks. We have two valves one says galley grey water and the other says gray. Do the gray tanks fill one at a time? or does the Kitchen sink has its own tank and the tub/sink in bathroom has its own tank? Thanks

We have a 36RL but it sounds like the take setup is the same. The galley tank just handles the kitchen sink, and the grey tank handles the shower and bathroom sink. We don't have a dishwasher or clothes washer but I think they would go in the galley and grey respectively.

TravelinAnderson had a great post on combining the two gray tanks to give you a combined capacity of 90 gallons. Search for it on this forum... pictures and instructions.

Steve (TravelinAnderson) did a great service educating all of us on this and I put a valve on mine after his posts. It has worked great now we can stay in a state park for 4 or 5 days without having to worry about short showers.

yes, dishwasher to galley tank and clothes washer to gray tank on 36RL

I have looked for this link, but I can't find it. Can any one help. We just took delivery of a 36FL and this weekend and the shower wouldn't drain. Gauges read not full, but guess what.. the tank was full.

Before taking delivery we had the dealer install an additional gate valve on the discharge line just before the outlet. When collecting grey water we keep the black tank v/v closed, close the new v/v and open both grey tank v/v's. This fills both grey tanks reasonably equally.

Before dumping the black tank ensure the grey tank v/v's are closed.

The FL plumbing drawing shows everything, except the W/D going into 1 tank. We don't have a W/D, so the 2nd tank would remain empty without this mod.

I just carry a extra end cap with a garden hose fitting in it I added a screw on hose shut off from lowes if I need to use both gray tanks put that cap on and close the little valve when I need to dump I close both gray tanks and open the small valve and drain whats in the big drain pipe into a bucket then you can dump the black and the two gray tanks I think I got $10 bucks in it

I'm glad a lot more State Parks are getting full hook up. The one in Mississippi we go to tomorrow does and Grayton in Destin, Florida we go to in Sept. does as well.

Last week we stayed 2 nights at a state park in NE with only electric (30A). We did great. 3 people3 showers, 1 load of dishwasher. I've always used a valve on the dump line to combine the gray tanks, but didn't have to use it this trip. These big tanks are nice, compared to what we used to have.

Hmm. Our setup is different.

We don't always camp with full hookups. We do cook and take showers every day, so when our kitchen sink started filling up when DH was taking a shower, we investigated.

Our RW has 2 grey tanks. Inside the trailer they are indicated as "Gray 1" and "Gray 2". Outside (inside the utility closet) they are labeled "Galley Tank" and "Grey Tank".Now for the disturbing problem.

Both the kitchen sink (galley) and shower fill up the Gray 2/Galley tank.
Only the small (low volume) bathroom flows to the Gray 1/Grey Tank.

For us, kitchen and shower are high volume areas. Does anyone else see this as a problem? After only 2 days, the SHOWER has nearly filled up my "Galley Tank". I can brush my teeth for a month before the "Grey Tank" shows a non-empty reading. Has anyone else noted this as a problem? We have a 2014 31SL.

What model do you have. We have a 36RL, and the bathroom sink and shower are on the Gray, or Gray 1 on the inside, and the kitchen sink is on Galley or Gray 2 on the inside. The Grey tank is located under the bathroom, and the Galley tank is located under the island area.

A lot of folks are at the Rally so you might not get an answer right away.

Whatever it is worth, we have a 36FL, the galley tank handles the kitchen and bath. The grey tank handles the washer. We installed a valve on the discharge side of our sewer outlet and it cross levels the two grey tanks by opening both grey tanks and closing the valve.

Novel concept as water seeks it's own level and can flow back 'up' into the 'emptier' tank !!!

BUT, pics or it didn't happen - can you show us how you did that and where you got your valve as I will certainly do that as well when we get our 38gk.

Crazy how in our current 5er we have a 45 gal galley tank that would have nothing in it while the 45 gal bat tank would have to be dumped.
