Honeymoon is over

While levelling our 38GK at a campground I noticed the front left jack leaking. It stopped a few minutes after we were level. Woke up in the morning and the camper was on its nose. Called Redwood, was told to take it to dealer. They also suggested I call Lippert, which I did. I was hoping to get it fixed at the campground but neither would authorize a mobile tech repair. I was able to add fluid and raise it up to hook to the truck. Then the right rear jack failed to retract. Another call to Lippert, and was told I had to take the jack off the camper, which I was able to do.

This was our THIRD time out with the Redwood. Very frustrating. When we picked up our Redwood last June, we camped for a month, then health issues and life issues kept it in storage until this spring. We did camp for a week in late May before this happened.

The upside is our dealer got us an appointment within two weeks, and all will be repaired under warranty. Hope we can get this behind us and start enjoying the Redwood.

Sorry about your leveling system problems. However, it seems your dealer tried to get you in a somewhat reasonable time. Glad it will be repaired under warranty. Hopefully smooth sailing from here!! Good luck.

So sorry to hear, I'm real curious what happened. Seems like one of my worst nightmares!

Also curious why Redwood would ask you to call Lippert? Did they have anything value added to offer?

So for all you king pin stabilizer or slide stabilizer believers, this situation could turn real ugly with extra jacks under there. 4,000 lbs on a tripod, something is going to break!

Makes me think I should take my Tripod Jack off the front to be safe

So sorry for the trouble! Sounds like your dealer is taking good care of you (and in a timely manner), but don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything!

This is all new to me being our first 5er and only our 3rd time out, so I was pretty frantic and discouraged that Redwood couldn't help me right there and then. I didn't know if or how I'd be able to raise the coach up high enough to hook up, so thay suggested Lippert for those answers.

Lippert was helpful and took my VIN #, made a record of my problems and gave me a reference # to facilitate with my dealer.

I'm not sure if we blew a seal or had a hose came loose, but it is covered and thankfully my dealer got us in quick. Who knows how or why? Maybe when it's torn apart the dealer will figure that out. Now the rear jack failure to retract when the other did....???

Steve & Linda,

So sorry to hear of your problems with the leveling system but also very happy to learn that Redwood recognized the severity of the issue and that they recommended that you call Lippert.

There are many people working to recognize and resolve these serious issues which for those of us that are living in their RW's are even more exasperating, especially when we are told that it will be weeks...or months before a dealer can see you!! We are not there yet but work continues to try to come up with solutions.

problematic dealers can compound these issues, though 2 weeks may seem like a long time it is much better than the 3-4 month delays we often encounter, especially when calling dealers in travel areas!!

I hope you are able to resolve the issue quickly!!!
