House vac

Our vac stopped working, does anyone know if it has an in-line fuse.

Are you speaking about a dirt devil central vac? They operate on 110v ac. Usually from a receptacle behind the steps that is gfci protected. Check your gfci receptacle, usually located in the bathroom.

Our Redwood has one GFCI circuit, with the GFCI in the bathroom as r time said. All other GFCI protection zones are downstream of this receptacle. They include both outside receptacles, both island receptacles and the undersink receptacle that the dishwasher (if equipped) plugs into. If the bathroom GFCI trips, all of the downstream receptacles will also be dead, so consider that in your troubleshooting.

Jim and Mary, we discovered that this past winter when I lost power in one of my GFI outlets and discovered that they are all wired together. Lose one, lose them all.

Fixed

Ok, I read the manual and found the issue. I had a power surge and had to replace my coffee maker and microwave last year. Oh and now the central vacuum. We don’t use it much so I didn’t realize it was a goner. It was only a $29. Part. Yes I had a surge protector but it blew as well. Easy fix.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
Cliff

Just for info Cliff & Julie

Got real tired of the Dirt Devil house vac and bought a Dyson Cordless Animal and hung it in the coat closet by the front door. Wired it into the vac circuit in the basement, so whenever it is stowed, the battery charges. Like this option a whole lot better.

We do the same set up, that’s why I didn’t know it was out.

The only thing we use about the built-in Vac, is just the Dust Pan feature at the bottom of the stairs. Use a dust mop on the floor and just sweep it in.

I have the same issue, it just quit a few weeks ago and have not had the change to check it, but I suspect I may have the issue you described. Did you source the part from the manual? We really miss that unit because of the floor scoop.
Glad you had an easy fix!

The part is 7091. Just google dirtdevil 7091 and it should come up.

Dirt Devil and Dealer PDI

One issue I've experienced is that dealers often do not install the vacuum bag in the vacuum during the PDI. When I purchased my 2010 Open Range fiver the vacuum bag/filter and the vacuum instructions were stuffed inside the bag compartment in a plastic bag as I suspect they come from the manufacturer (Dirt Devil). Unfortunately the vacuum will work but the bag is not installed and my motor failed because of unfiltered dirt/dust until I realized what happened. When I bought my Redwood that is one of the first things I checked and my dealer had done the same thing and didn't PDI the vacuum and the bag/filter had not been installed.
