Installing a Dish Trav'ler satellite

Been tossing around the idea but hit a snag...
It seams that the Trav'ler requirers a data cabe to be run from the satellite to a box inside the RV.... On my 2016, there was already that cable pre run along with 2 coax cables...

on my 2020 there are only 2 coax cables pre-run with NO data cable...I am assuming that it is a large job to run that wire properly ???

Joe

I can't believe that Redwood stopped running that data cable. I believe it should appear in a bedroom cabinet somewhere, that's how it is on our older one. Atom Ant reported his was taped to the roof coax cables and required some fishing around to locate. If it's not in either place, I'm afraid you're out of luck. Why don't you try your contact at Redwood and find out if they stopped including the satellite data cable.

Thanks Jim, I looked around and saw no other cables so I inquired with Redwood. I received a technical drawing directly from them showing the wire runs for my cable and satellite. There are no data cables run, only two coax cables from the roof down.

*** update***

I was snooping around a bit more and seam to have found the wire for the satellite..

There is a wire/cable coiled up behind the bedroom TV, I took the TV off the mount and looked at it quickly. It appears to be the data cable that the trav'ler would need to function.

Now I need a cooler day to go up on the roof and snoop around a bit more to verify that the other end actually is up there...

Hey Joe, that is wonderful news. We don't know what we would do without it. We bring our Hopper and Joeys with us and have HD and DVR capabilities at all 3 TV's. How do you plan to use the Travel'r?

Joe, the new 2020 models that are on display here at the rally have the Winegard Control box cable installed (I looked).

Jim,
Not Sure about it yet, I have the Pathway X2 now and like it so its hard to justify the cost of the trav'ler. I guess its a wish list item....

It would be nice to be able to watch all 3 satellites on different TV's at the same time.

Michelle,
Thanks for checking, when it cools off, I will climb to the roof and look around for the other end...I am ASSUMING that it would be in the same area as the 2 coax cable inlets up there...

If it's there you have to pull the panel with the two coax connectors and it should be taped/tie wrapped to the coax.

I have been playing with the idea of installing a Trav'ler. I found some information you may want to consider. DirectTV is winding down. They will no longer replace satellites. Therefore, the Dish version should be strongly considered.

Scott,
I have the Pathway X2 and Dish for my RV now... I really like the idea that I only have to pay fo 30 days at a time with no extra fee's attached for cancelling or re starting service...

Hey Joe, on the roof where the coax cables are coming out, remove cap you will find the wire you are looking for attached to coax there.
Hope this helps, went through same thing when I had mine installed and was told on this site by Atom Ant where to find same, and he was correct.
Have a great summer.

Joe, no matter who does your install, I would include the Heavy Duty Mounting Plate offered by Winegard. The plate mounts on the roof then the Dish Assembly mounts to the plate. Makes for a stronger install and provides the Roller Plate for the roller that's on the LNB to prevent damage to your roof during travel.

Direct tv dish

I had a Direct TV dish (Wingard) installed on redwood roof. It send TV to all 3 TVs “if” you have Direct TV DVR and 2 genes to other 2 TVs. All works great as long as you call and change your address when you move to a new state.

To all putting on the auto wingaurd
We had ours installed when we bought the trailer. It was raised and lowered in thos time maybe 30 times at most. Last time we used it which was over a 4 year period, when I went to lower it it layed over on it's back instead of the front. Sent it in to winnegaurd and they said it needed replacing and as it was 4 years old they had no parts to fix it
Shitty customer service.meedless to say another 2500.00 for a new one
