It almost happened

a little back story -
I own and routinely drive 2 vehicles.. a 2016 5.0 F-150.. and a 2015 6.7 F-350 Diesel...
Going to visit one of our other offices the other day , traffic was really bothering me.. I pulled into the rest stop , got a cup of coffee and rolled to the fuel pumps...
As I opened the fuel door , with the green nozzle in my hand , I WOKE UP and remembered I was in my F-150

THAT WAS CLOSE ! Too close for comfort to be truthful !

On our way to the 2014 rally, I almost made the opposite mistake. We pulled into a BP fuel stop along the Indiana turnpike and grabbed the green plastic covered nozzle, thinking it meant the diesel hose. Realized the mistake just in the nick of time before any gasoline went into the tank...........Why BP wrapped the nozzle head in green plastic is beyond me!!!!!!!

We had some friends that went to Alaska last year. One pulling 5er with gas Truck and one pulling 5er with Diesel. They were behind each other at a gas station gas truck filled pulled forward diesel pulled up to pump told the attendant to filler up and he filled it with gas. The only got about 5 miles before the truck died. I always watching the attendant here in OR to make sure they don't do that. NOT THAT I DONT TRUST THEM

Yes, my father-in-law was pushy and wanted to fill up our diesel excursion a while back and he had the gas one in the tank before I could stop him...
he thought I meant don't you buy the fuel so he kept going - finally he saw the panic in my eyes and stopped...

One of the reasons I like the bigger diameter nozzles that that won't fit in the gas tank

New Jersey same way - all attendants, no self serve.

Jim - I almost did the same thing in Indiana. We were our running around during the Rally a couple years ago and needed fuel. Pulled up to the pump, grabbed the green handle and was just about to pull when I realized it was corn gas and not Diesel. Dumbest pump marking color choice I've ever seen. Like you I just barely avoided a real situation.

The diesel pumps up in Canada are usually yellow. You really have to be careful because all 4 grades of fuel are sold on the same pump. We are almost all self serve now in Ontario.
