Kitchen Exhaust Vent

I have a 2013 36FB. I was wondering if anyone else is having problems with the kitchen exhaust vent? Ours won't open automatically when we turn the fan on.
And it won't open & close with the controls on the wall.

Thanks for and help
Lloyd Cary

I assume you are talking about the one on the roof and not over the oven?

Yes, it's the one in the ceiling.

I'm hoping some others chime in, there is something that breaks on the lid but I think it is an easy fix from the roof. I don't recall, but there are some discussions about it here on this forum or the other one. You might try a search.

I have not experienced a problem with my Redwood but prior to the Redwood I had a Hitchiker and I experienced that problem frequently, but only after the vent had not been used for a period of time. The cover would stick to the rubber seal and wouldn't allow it to raise. I found that if I lubed the seal after I got on the roof and physically pulled on the cover to break the seal, I never had a problem after that. You might give that a try.

Get on a step ladder in the kitchen and manually pull down and turn the knob Maxfan to open it. Get on the roof and spray CRC lubricant on the rubber seal.

What they did on ours was over torqued one of the mounting screws for the gear box, cracking it. Held for quite some time then began doing all sorts of things. Contacted MaxxAir and they sent a replacement gearbox in a few days. Pretty simple straight forward replacement from the roof.
