LCI brakes

Well, interesting chain of events regarding my 2019 Redwood 3951WB. Took it into a RV service department to get Sailun tires and a bearing repack. Service manager emailed me and told me I need to replace all four of my brakes at the cost of $6300. I have about 800 miles towing, do this was a bit of a shock. The dealer went through Lippert and ordered disc brakes, which was a savings of $1000 going that route. Basically the driver side front axle brake fell apart and the brake on rear axle had about a inch of brake dust trying to compensate. The back brake was so over adjusted, the tech had to back off the star adjuster significantly just to get the hub off. Apparently, I have LCI axels with Axle Texnology drums. I have started a warranty claim through LCI, we will see what they do for me.

It's a bit late now, but you could've gotten disc brakes installed at your location by Performance Trailer Brakes for about 1/2 of what your dealer quoted & most likely a much better install.
In the future & for others with drum brakes you can replace the complete backing plate with shoes, magnets & all other parts already assembled for $125+/- each & 4-5 bolts to mount them. Then hand pack bearings, have drums turned if needed, new Timken bearings & have less than $1000 into to project.
Long story to say for 4 drum brakes at $6300 your dealer must be charging about a $1000 an hour labor.

For that much money you can almost get MORryde IS and Disc Brakes installed.

There is NO way i would even think about that $6300 price! Disk brakes and Morryde IS added to my trailer was 1000 dollars more then your price. A disk brake kit is the only think I would even consider the dealer install its about 2500 tops in parts plus labor. performance trailer brakes is where you wan to buy your parts.
