MAXxAir
My MAXxAir 4700K fans are failing. I ordered 3 operator mechanisms from e-trailer, and unscrewed the screws holding the hosing so I could get to the hatch motor and operator, but the knob is preventing me from getting in there. Is that knob just pushed on the shaft, or is there a set screw I can't see? The fan motor and fan work great, but the damn cover won't open.
2 of the three fans we have exhibit the same problem, so I'm planning to replace all three. Has anyone out there fixed on of these things?

You didn't say, but the operator has to be changed from the roof. Once the lid is loose there's only a couple screws if I recall.

MaxxAir will be happy to supply Operator Mech free of charge. Replacement of the mech is done from the roof.

Thanks for the help. I wish you had said from the inside, though!

I did change my lid motor from the inside. A little tweak and bend using magnetic screw driver. It was a challenge but did get it changed.

From the Roof, the opener gearbox change is a fairly easy 5 minute job.
Like others have said, I contacted Maxx Air and they sent me free replacement gearbox for my fan. I requested to purchase a spare and they sent me a second one at no charge.

I think that MaxxAir knows that the gear box is junk, but it's cheaper for them to send us replacements than design a better assembly.
Just wonder how many owners take their unit to their dealer and pay big bucks for the replacement?
