Mushroom Attic Vents

For all, be warned about the Mushroom Attic Vent Covers, these are the approx 6 inch diameter vents, one forward and one aft to vent the attic area. These covers thread onto a stud and are only hand tighten and can vibrate loose and eventually disappear (lost one on our Montana). My fix is to add a little silcone sealant/RTV to the threads and reintall the cover snug, helps hold them in place but can still be removed if they need replacement.

Thanks for the heads up. Another product that can be used is
Permatex® Low Strength Threadlocker PURPLE. Thisproduct is available at most home improvement stores. Make sure you get the purple low strength! This will keep any relatively small threaded nut in place, but will allow adjustment or removal if required. If you use the high strength version, you most likely won't be able to break the nut loose when you need to remove it.</span>

Be careful what you use, the cover is plastic, thus some products will tend to melt the plastic. It's not metal on metal, it's a plastic cover threading on a metal stud.

Anyone know ifthere isa solar cover available that has a fan built in to help with hot weather venting? We need that in Texas!

Absolutely! Only use Permatex on metal threads and nuts!
