Mysterious floor register-What's this for?

It's ME again. Does anyone have any idea what this floor register is for? It is not a "duct", and no air comes out of it when the furnace is on. It is to grab warm air for the basement? Seems an odd spot since it is inside the RIGHT armoir cabinet under the bottom drawer. 2014-11-10 12.06.57.jpg

You go in through this vent to tune the kazoo.

Do you have a furnace vent in the bedroom?

I've seen the same vent on ours behind the drawers in the bedroom. I "think" it's to allow airflow into the basement.

That vent allows the air in the basement to circulate to the bedroom. That's why your a/c wont work as well if you leave the basement door open in the summer.

....also ,with this vent you can yell down to the grand kids to shut up when it's time to sleep.

Dave,
You shouldn't make your grandkids sleep in the basement!

Dave,

Did you make bunk beds, for the grand Kids, out of the shelves in the basement?

Guy

This how mean I am to my grand kids. If they aren't well behaved...they have to haul me around the camp ground (that's her monkey not mine). The next step is the basement

My guess is that vent is left over from when there were dresser drawers on that wall as there was an open space under those drawers. We have that vent in our '12 RL and never really determined if it's to let warm air from the bedroom get into the basement. But it really doesn't do much

She only 5 and we're trying to talk her out of carrying the monkey around with her. This was her "Before Kindergarten" big girl camping trip with PeePaw.

Precious memories I hope I never forget.

Some of the best. Our 22 month old grand daughter just came up from San Antone. What a trip she is. Couldn't convince her to allow me to pull her wagon with the garden tractor.
