Need to replace wiper seal

I have a wiper seal that needs replacing on my "16" 38RL.. It is on the curb side, rear of the slide.
The dealer is covering the seal, and up to 1 hour labor, all I have to do is call him with some measurements.
Does anyone know what I need to measure? Is it the width of the wiper portion? I really don't want to get him bad info..

You would need to measure from the top of the slide opening to the bottom of the slide opening. Give a few extra inches as insurance. They shipped mine in 9 foot sections. Hope that helps

Wiper Seals

The Kitchen and Dinning slideout require AP 018-2030-168 Double EK D Base, 2" x 3-3/16" over the top and down the sides. This is shipped straight so has to be shipped by truck. RV supplies wanted a fortune to ship this, I found it on Amazon and with Prime it is free shipping. It comes in 14' lengths for $172. This seal is shaped like a U with the D seal bracket on both sides so you are replacing the inside and outside wiper at the same time. It spans thru the wall to attach on the inside and outside walls. The D seal, the same size D seal works on all sides inside and out for all slides and that is AP Products 018-312-EKD Black 1" x 15/16" D-Seal. This comes in 35' at Amazon for $88.79. The sealant you use to put on the outside edge of the D seal is GEOCEL 2300 CLEAR Construction Tripolymer Sealant 10.3 oz. Cartridge. This is one of the few sealants that will stick to the rubber gasket and side of the RV. The best price I found on this was from Conspec Materials Inc in Tampa Fla at $6.99 a tube (www.conspecmaterials.com), you will need almost 1 tube per slide for the outside D gaskets.

Thanks for the info... I measured mine and they are 2-3/8", not 3-3/16".. that is the measurement of ONLY the WIPER portion... is that were they get those numbers ?

The 3 3/8" is the total width including the wiper and the channel the D seal goes on. The actual wiper width is 2 1/4", you said yours is 2 3/8", This is the size I got from Tiara RV but ordered thru Amazon because Tiara wanted over $400 for shipping. Claimed they had to ship it by truck because it had to be shipped straight. Amazon shipped it by UPS in a tube that kept it straight. Here is some pictures of the seal.

Hello

Have the same unit and wondering what's involved to replace the wiper seals. I have the kitchen slide where the outside rubber wiper has separated on just one side.

You had indicated they come in 14' length. Seems to be a waste as these slides are just over 7' in length. Does the bedroom slide use the same one.

Trying to arrange to have it shipped to a campground on my return to N.S.

Currently in the Tampa area and going to get the sealant you have suggested.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Regards, Gerard

The bedroom slide is different, it is not a U shaped seal like the ones on the living room slides. I did replace them on the bedroom slide and it was just a single wiper blade type seal. I had to cut it around the channel that is used to extend and retract the slide. The bedroom slide uses a motor and the track has slots for the gear on the motor. Be sure to cut it close, don't leave any gaps as the seal goes around the track or you will have water coming inside the RV. I believe I used the same wiper that is used on the top of all the slides. See my previous posts on this subject, I am sure I gave information on them too. I am in the Philippines right now and can't look, but I am sure someone out there will have the info on the wiper. It isn't rocket science to replace them so you I'm sure you can do it if I can.
