Nice, what kind of charger? I have 300 watts on our roof, 30 amp blue sky MPPT and 2 Lifeline 6 Volt batteries. Might eventually add another pair of 6 Volts. I installed the panels so that I can add two more down the road if I like.

Titan Guy - how many panels does it require these days for 480 W. When we got ours the panels had just increased to 160W.

I know you didn't ask me but my guess is 3 panels. The latest from AM Solar are 160W each. There are higher wattage panels available for sure. Titan Guy might be running two of the 230W panels, they are available now.

On edit and off topic: Heading to Quartzsite tomorrow to check out the show...

3-160w panels. This is the 3rd day on solar. Have been conservative on power use but seems to be charging well 17-20 amps 13.1V. Will run another day at least until I can get a surge protector. Not trusting of the power on Quartzsite midway.

Excellent feedback on the solar. Have been wondering how it would hold up with the short days right now. As for the surge protector I put the Progressive Industries hard mount with remote display in mine. My recommendation if going this route is to remove the toy box area to gain access to the back of the converter. I did not due this and it's a tight fit to get back there from the basement. Wish I would have thought about the toy box idea...

The solar system has a built in 30a surge protector but fireplace and A/C is on a separate circuit. Just trying to protect A/C units from funky Quartzsite current.
Progressive has a booth here so will pick something up tomorrow.

Wow, we only have 1 x 160W panel and the max I have seen is just over 4 amps. Mind you hoping to see better than that once we get to lower latitudes.

I am running the Carmanah CTI 160W panels, As I am new to this, I did what research I could and compared efficiency ratings with what was available in the area and this is what I came up with.
