Question Off door side axle skirt replacement;

My wife and I had a blowout in West Texas while traveling. In doing so this blowout caused our slide axle skirt to basically be destroyed! I have the skirt as well as the radius arch from Redwood factory. My question is this? Do I have to remove the vertical end moldings on the slide in order to slide the metal up and under to the correct postion before screwing the metal onto the L shaped braces?

When our marathon went, we were lucky enough to have a mobil tech that could repair it, and on THAT rv (SOB) he did pull of the 'connecting piece' made a J shape of the top and 'hung' it over the top piece, then put the seam back on... let me see if I can find the pics... YRMV

(if you double click on the pic to expand, look closely just to the left of the hanging rubber seal, you can see where the tire bent the stell cross member when it exploded !)
