Opinions on the factory mattress???

How is the quality and comfort of the OEM mattress? Is it passable for a while or does it need to be replaced?

We cover it with a 2" foam topper and find it very comfortable. Have used it for about 4 months so far.

After sleeping on it for about 2 weeks have decided its a bit uncomfortable for us so we are going to put a board underneath and a foam topper. Board should be reasonably priced at Home Depot and Costco has nice toppers. We have one on our guest bedroom in the S&B house which we will try out first.

Factory mattress is still in original plastic cover and stored away...
a memory foam mattress went in the first day

we did 'fill in' the center portion with a thin piece of luan to level it out before putting down the foam though...

We love the factory matress, just as delivered. It was a delight to find we didnt need to modify it or replace it.

We got the regular pillowtop matress And was supposed to get the memory foam pillowtop mattress. Is it much better than the standard mattress???? Waiting for the new mattress to come in and was wondering if it was worth the wait

We cover it with a 2" foam topper and find it very comfortable. Have used it for about 20 months so far.
When it gives up the ghost we'll replace it. So far so good.

We had recently bought a nice Memory Foam mattress for our previous 5th Wheel, so when we were moving into our new Redwood at the dealer, we swapped mattresses before leaving the dealer.
Now our trade in has a brand new mattress, still in the bag.

We have had the same experience. We are normally use to a very firm bed. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that even though the mattress was softer than we were accustom to, we slept well with no back issues. We have used the bed approximately 8 months over the past 2 3/4 years.....3 months continuous this past winter in Florida.

I have a herniated disc and always wake up in pain at home. Although we've only slept in it 15 nights now, I have yet to wake with pain in the Redwood. Very comfortable for us.

We sleep better in our RW than our Sleep Number bed at home. We added a featherbed topper but I really think those of us who sleep better do so because we are relaxed and stress free in the camper!!!

Even though I'm retired, I can relate to that. At the S&B it is constant work, fixing things, cutting grass, etc.

10 days before we are back on the road, but who's counting.

We find it very decent. Todd's complaining of some new minor hip/joint pain since moving in, so we are going to try a topper. I am sleeping just fine. It's definitely not a cheap-o mattress, but mattresses are so personal for everyone, hard to say if you will like it or not. I would say, give it a shot. It might be fine.

Like several others, we added a memory foam topper, I think it's about 3-4 inches. We've been in our coach for 18 months, fulltime and all is still well for us.

We switched ours over to the "Sleep Number Bed" and liked it. My wife talked me into putting the "Sleep number" back in our guest room and we switched the matresses. After this trip, we've decided it's coming back to the Redwood.

Dave, what size Sleep Number did you purchase for the Redwood, do you have a queen or king?

We have a king and I know the standard king mattress is too big for the rig so if we were to replace it which size SN would we need to purchase?

We have the queen and it's the same size as the house queen. I think the rv queen has more rounded corners but with the slide-in-slide that isn't an issue. We took the rv mattress off the first month we had it and gave it to our son's friend.
