pin weights

Interesting issue this past weekend..... Since getting my 2020 Ford and Redwood, Ive been saying that it tows sooo much lighter than my last combo of the 16 Ford and 16 Redwood... I have NOT scaled the new redwood to date as the guy I used to use closed, so I improvised..

I purchased a Surline 5000# scale and before I used it, I had it calibrated by the scale company we use at work with our ISO programs.... The scale was/is dead on..
Here is the scale -

Here is the pin weight of my 2020 3991RD... All that is missing from the camper is our clothes..

I would bet your older 2016 was 3400~3600lbs , Keystone must have added a counter weight to the rear!

I was 3460# on my 2016 38RL.. scale weight. Just still surprised that the 2020 is so low.... I even doubled check to make sure I didn’t have the stabilizers down.. They were UP.

Hitch pin weight is only one of several factors to be considered. Your 1/2 ton truck combined weight towing rating will likely be exceeded.

I was actually joking.... no one in their right mind should try to tow a large fiver like a Redwood with a 1/2 ton...

Im bad enough using my 2020 1 ton SRW...BUT at least I'm in my limits

Read some of the other towable forums!
The Ford F150 EcoBoost is the ultimate tow beast regardless of rv size or weight mostly due to the ridiculous max tow weight rating Ford advertises.
Yes it's able to "move" that much weight, but no way can it safely "carry" that much weight due to its payload rating.

BUT, because Truck Salesmen will tell customers it will pull anything, and the RV Salesmen tell their customer that their Truck will pull anything on the lot.
The result new time RVer as a rule don't have a clue so they believe what they're told.
