"Popping and cracking" sounds from underneath

I am hearing popping and cracking noises as I walk, coming from underneath the unit. Is this normal sounds for the 6 point level system? I didn't hear these noises with my "old school" trailers. And, it doesn't happen all the time. It seems to come and go with the different temperatures outside. Maybe it's just the nature of the beast? I do really like this 6 point auto level setup.

Cat hydraulic oil additive is suppose to help with that.

This should explain the hydraulic fluid additive

The is a TSB on the issue from Redwood. I notified the dealer when I took the coach in for some warrenty repair and they added the oil for free.

^If you guys have 2013 models that have done it, and it is under a TSB, and fixed under warranty, why isn't RW just adding a quart as they put these units together? Or, Lippert sending a quart with the units from the factory? This is what upsets me, when a company knows about a problem that happens over and over, and doesn't fix it.

Good point. Reminds me of the shower door leak. Unexplainable...

Our service center would not add the fluid because they "couldn't duplicate the problem" on site. Well, naturally, it doesn't do it "on command", but it DOES DO IT. We will buy the CAT fluid and do it ourselves at some point. Frustrating, but we are not going to get to hung up about it. Glad there is a fix tho.

We only experienced the issue with a change in temperature.

Are you guys talking about while the Redwood is sitting level at a campsite? We have been set up in AZ for about 3 weeks and we hear popping noises from all over underneath. But it doesn't look like the level of the coach has changed. If the jacks were popping wouldn't the coach level change? I picked up the CAT additive yesterday in preparation to do the fluid addition. What do you all think?

Originally I didn't think anything was changing, but last fall I started to feel the coach jump while in bed. I suppose of the piston is contracting or whatever, it probably does change a tiny bit.

That's it Jim. Suck some of the other stuff out and add the Cat additive. I did mine and sometimes it still does it so I'm going to add a second bottle.

Yes, we discovered that it does change a tiny bit.... pretty soon you start to notice more movement in the coach, like shuddering just when someone is walking around. I think it just gets a tiny bit "off". We can feel movement when it pops. It's small, but it's there, so something is happening. Doesn't seem to do it as much in the colder weather I have noticed.... BUT THEN MY HEAT PUMP IS SO {{{LOUD}}} I'VE GONE A LITTLE DEEEF!

Factory

Hi everyone,

Just so everyone knows, Redwood does add anti-stiction fluid at the factory. It may be necessary to add more as time goes on, however. Thanks to everyone on here for helping explain the remedy.

Thanks,

Jeff

Thanks Jeff! Appreciate it. We are definitely going to add more when the weather gets nice again. Seems like it's not doing it so much in the colder climate. Did it a lot in the warmth of summer.

Jeff

I wonder if RW would reimburse for the purchase of the fluid?
