Yes. We have a 2014 36 RL and we've had two broken handles. I believe in our case the couch is bouncing against the handle while we are traveling and the friction/vibration is causing the break. We've ordered another handle as this is a stock part. Husband is waiting for a response from our local dealer.

We keep a 1' x 24" dowel under the bedroom escape window to prop it open and keep the comforter under the window to slide over window edge so as to not get hung up or scraped on the bottom edge of the window. I, too would rather risk injury hanging and dropping instead of burning.

I have a 2013 Redwood. The latch on the rear emergency exit has broken twice now. Can’t explain why. We have never used it. This time the hinge is bent. I gues this happened as we were traveling since I didn’t know the latch broke again. To replace the window it will cost $1,200. It sounds like there is a defect in the workmanship. Does anyone know if Redwood has a recall on this?

Rear Window Emergency Handle - keeps breaking

Well, I think I finally got it fixed lasted all year, touch wood. I found a new one at the RV Dealers, which was not all aluminum . this one was hard plastic/rubber compound , and seems to have more give.
The reason I can see it alway breaking was that being at the back of the trailer you have more stress on the movement of everything as you got more up and down action, which in time causes the aluminum bracket to eventually break.
Just drill out the ribbetts and replace with small screws with nuts and lock washers, so if ever need to change out again much easier, I learnt this after the second time changing it out.
Seems to be working fine. now. Hope this will help anyone else with the same issues

We had the same issue, it was caused by the sofa bed bouncing back and hitting the lever. I anchored the sofa bed using small shelf holders (about 3X3 inches right angle steel ones). I screwed them to the sofa feet at the front of the sofa (2 required) and into the floor.

No problems since

Our handle has broken on the emergency window on our redwood 2013 36 fb. Has anyone replaced this and where did they get the parts. It looks like the holder was riveted in place.

Ours broke a year ago. Used Cable Ties to hold it closed and got a replacement at the Rally.

Mine has broken twice, the 2nd time I wired it shut & it's still that way. Actually couldn't use it without moving the couch, be easier to use the exit window at the end of the couch.
If you want the handle contact Kinro the manufacturers of the windows.

Window Handle Replacement

I just got it from an RV Dealer. It seems they changed them up from all aluminum to now heavy Plastic, which at least has more give in the rear movement at back of coach. So I went thru 2 years now with replacement and all is good. Otherwise it seemed I was fixing every year.

Busted for second time

We had our handle break again on the way home from Arizona. There is so much bounce at the back with the roads that the light aluminum will not hold. I am looking to keep it closed permanently if someone wants to describe what they have done. A very poor design.

When ours broke I wired it up with bailing wire, ordered a new handle and 4 years later it is still that way. The only good opening that emergency window for would be ventilation as the ladder is in the way for it to open fully

Also wired mine shut... My ladder wasn't in the way but had to pull the couch out 8-10" to use the handle. There was another exit at the end of the couch that would be much easier to exit.
