Rest Area stops
My question is this.......If I stop at a rest area or Wall Mart parking lot for a quick over night. If I put the slides out, especially the bedroom, do I need to unhook from my truck and put the leveling bars down?

Many times we stay hooked up. We just put the jacks down to keep it steady and open the slides. You can use the jacks to try to get it as level as possible.

No need to unhook. If we are going in a hurry from point a to b in a few days, putting out the slides is all we do along with maybe lowering a couple of jacks like coloradoliving.

If we are just staying overnight in a park, we don't usually unhook. We put the jacks down to steady and level a little if necessary, hook up electrical and call it a night.

This is exactly what we do. Have not tried to stay at a rest stop or Walmart.........we have always found a campground near our route with a pull through site so we don't have to unhook the truck.

Is it critical that the coach be level before extending the slides, therefore making sure to manually put the appropriate jacks down to get level BEFORE extending slides? I've read that if the coach is not level, there could be a slide problem.

That is my understanding. I had a Motorhome that had a level switch that inhibited slide operation unless it was level. Because this is under "Rest Stops" I will also say that if it is close to level in a rest stop, I would not worry but would not push it to far...
