A real short fall of Redwood's seems to be getting the right information out to the right people. I had a dealer do my inspection that sold Redwoods but didn't sell me mine. They seemed clueless as to what Redwood needed and tried to insist that Redwood only had a 12 month warranty. I got tired of arguing with them and told them to inspect the trailer.
Since they're closer to my house (they didn't handle Redwoods when I bought mine), I really considered buying my next RV from them but after that visit the thought vanished. I really don't understand why it's so difficult to get all the same information out to the dealers and buyers. VERY TROUBLING

So what is the truth on what to do? Who really knows at this point. I have done as Mr Neilson stated. No problems yet. Perhaps it just depends who you talk to.

I got the impression that this 6 month inspection was NOT a required check It was just a way for the selling dealer to "bond" with the buyer.

My Dealer charged us $100.00 after I showed him the redwood forum site.
Down from $325.00 before he saw the site.

Our dealer said it was mandatory at 1 year in order for the warranty to be valid. Stated it was $125. How is it some do it for free?

Some of you are getting screwed... my dealer did it for free. Would be nice if RW cut the bullsh*t and sent something to all dealers and owners to clearly define what was inspected, when, and for how much.

I asked my dealer last week about the inspections, he said that Redwood only requires the annual inspection, no 3 month, no 5-6 month, just the annual...
I asked about cost...NO COST for the inspection but I should expect charges for routine maintenance which they will do while they have the coach and that would depend on what is done...with my approval.

It was a joke what the dealer did for me but it apparently was enough to make the company happy. The guy was on my roof for about 45 seconds with a calking gun in his hand. He found 2 areas about the size of a silver dollar he said needed caulk. He charged me about $30 and said I had to sit around for a hour to let the stuff skim over. That was it. He gave me a piece of paper for my records and I was done.

Yearly inspection: i crawled up on top of my RV BEFORE TAKING for yearly inspection. At the inspection the RV PASSED, I CRAWLED, A CANCER PATIENT IN TREATMENT, BACK ON THE ROOF BEFORE PAYING, STILL NOT CAULKED, I told my dealer service, if you don't caulk the top, RV ain't moving. I have photo's with dates on them showing the caulking not done after being told it had passed the yearly inspection. RV shop KNEW nothing about repacking the axle bearings as part of yearly inspection. I don't think i can use them any more for any work, no check list for yearly inspection that they could show me,
BTW IT RAINED FOR ALL 3 days for 1-1/2 - 3 hours every day til we left the park. Wonder if 3 days of rain would have ruined the ROOF?

Seems like the roof is the life of the RV , just like my roof of my house, water is our enemy. So I will have it maintained until the 5 years structural warranty is up and if Redwood doesn't have a better roof system by then I will seek a RV with a better roof system like Excel with the life time, no seams rhino roof.

Riff Raff,
My dealer told me we don't need to repack wheel bearings before 6,000 miles or 10,000 km.

I didn't mind the bearings so much, I don't have a 500 miles on unit. I did min the open metal showing on the end caps and the embedded footprints in the sealer where they pushed down the metal. Send me your email by PM and I will send photo's.
I am beginning to think the inspection is only a money maker. How many people actually get the YEARLY inspection and check to see, where they can, what was done.
Herb

The third page in the Redwood Owners Guide (this is before they even start numbering pages), has the Inspection and Service Certification sheet. It lists the things the dealer is supposed to check and sign off on. It basically covers the areas where water can get into the structure. Nothing is mentioned about bearings or anything else. I had to draw this to the attention of my dealer to show him what he had to do. Either Redwood doesn't inform the dealer, or they don't pay any attention.

As stated before, my dealer in Brooklin Ontario inspected roof, windows, doors, seams, marker lens, roof vents, slide seams and rubber seals, Trail-Air greased, wheel bearings repacked if over 6,000 miles. I only pay for materials. This year I paid $0.00.... only 6,000 miles on unit. Booked appointment 1 month in advance in April and unit was in shop for 3 days and came home WASHED!Edited by: BradPAjax

Washed??? Now that's real service! I've worked in sales in one aspect or another formost of my life. I've always told mytrainees to promise the best and over deliver. Your dealer now has a customer for life! I hope other dealers read this forum. They could learn alot about how to treat their customers.
