On ours, the wiring was towards the curb side just ahead of the rear A/C unit. Ours also had 4 coax lines up there (set up for our Canadian sat provider that requires 2 coax lines to each receiver if you are running a PVR). Most units only have 2.
The rear location ensures that the sat sits below the rear A/C when stowed, it doesn't increase the RV height.
