This is all very misleading on the webpage and when we got the sales pitch at the dealer when we bought our unit. Time will tell what is covered over the next 4 years I have my unit.


I am curious as to how you "Inspect for presence of condensation in roof cavity" ? I know it is what the manual says, but, there is no way to get into the roof cavity that I know of. Maybe if there are stains on the ceiling........that's an indicator.

Those of you that have applied the Dicor yourself, how do you do it? Do you have to remove all of the old Dicor first and then reapply?

Before you apply any rubber roof caulking you need to be sure it's approved by Redwood and the rubber roof manufacturer in writing. These roofs are Alpha roofs not Dicor. Applying a non approved caulk could void warranty.

As far as removal vs over the old that depends, most of the time I go over the old, but if the old is very old and does not look good then I remove and replace.

My dealer says there is an "approved list" and they are getting me a copy in writing so I have it for my records. You are correct, they have some sort of hazard that at the very least make them very expensive to ship. I will only use a product on the list once I get it. I will post it here.

I have personally ordered and had shipped to my address, Alpha Ply sealant. If you go to www.PPLmotorhomes.com they sell it. It is on page 251 of their extensive catalog. It sells for $6.98/tube, and they sell both self-leveling and non self-leveling. Alpha recommends that you clean the existing caulk with soap and water and make sure it is dry, then if the existing caulk is loose, remove it before applying new caulk. If it does not peel off easily, apply new caulk over the existing. You can go to the Alpha website to get instructions for roof repair.

during my annual inspection, I purchased and provided the caulk because the dealer wanted to use Dicor sealant.

I bought the Alpha Ply from PPL Motorhomes, I think at Rick's suggestion a while back. Just remember shelf life is one year, so don't overstock!

Before I learned about the Alpha, I used Dicor to install my satellite antenna. So far, the roof has not caught on fire.

And I would caution taking a dealers list as 'the bible' since they don't warranty it, Redwood does

Not that anyone has ever been told by their truck dealer
"Put that 700 hp tuner on your deezle - it's fine !!!"

and the mfg says "no, no, NO !" when the engine blows up

Just to be clear, NOT getting a dealers list, my dealer is getting a list From REDWOOD in writing so they and I have it.

As others have mentioned, Redwood recommends the Alpha sealant that you can get from the website listed above.

This year alone, I have been to three different Redwood dealers to get the sealant that "Redwood" uses for the slide seals. All three use a completely different product, one being from Lowes.

Did you ever find one that worked? When the service center replaced my seals they caulked with a black sealant that solidified. The tech told me that instead of the clear that the factory had used, they(service center) prefer to use the black because it matches the seal and looks better. It does look great! I should've asked him then what they used for future reference but I would think a call to the service center would get that info.

I like the idea on black.

The jury is still out, but so far the winner by a landslide is Geocel 2300 MHRV vehicle body sealant. Lots of variations, but the MHRV has seemed to do the trick.
