Shoreline electric reel

Hi there

I'm new to this group. We have a 2018 Redwood 3901 mb. Power cord reel won't engage. Motor runs. I took the motor assembly cover off and 5 "rivets" fell out. Chain is in place but won't engage to retract cord. I assume "rivets" have something to do with gear engagement but I can't find a diagram to work from.

Has anyone repaired/replaced one of these?

Sorry I didn’t respond earlier, I spend most of my time over on the Redwood Owner’s Group website and Facebook so I didn’t see your post until today. I did not replace my whole reel. That would cost about $600 in parts and probably $200 or more in labor. After threadlocking the pins back into the plastic plate 3 times, then CA gluing them and they still fell out I purchased a repair kit for $70. This replaces the plastic plate and pins with a metal clutch plate and pins, replaces the solenoid that engages this clutch plate and provides a better spring. All the parts and instructions are included. It took my wife and I about 4 hours to remove the reel, replace the parts and reinstall. You could probably get an RV service center to install it for about $200 or so but you would need to check. You can purchase the Reel Retrofit Kit (Southwire CRRK-01) from rvpartssource.com.

You will probably find much more activity on this site than the ROG, it sometimes goes weeks without any post.

I agree wholeheartedly..............since the revamp I find the ROG site very disjointed and difficult to use. I used to look at both sites almost every day, but now I may only look at the ROG site once a month, if that.

Yeah, I don’t spend much time on “old school” website forums anyway. The ROG has shifted all their discussions to their Facebook page and they are getting a lot more activity than they ever did on their forum. Some people may love Facebook and some may hate it but it is certainly popular.

Glad I’m not the only one. I thought it was just my unwillingness to change and adapt…..

Nope, just about all other forums have a similar look and feel, but the newly redesigned ROG is terrible and sometimes goes for weeks without any new activity. The Facebook page is much more active, but I'm not a fan of Facebook.

Another "not a Facebook user" here. I've thought about using it, and there are advantages to it, but they aren't worth the drama.
