Silverado Diesel Exhaust Fluid
The "Exhaust Fluid System" message displayed with the omninious "speed limiting" message. DEF fluid level is near full. Any ideas on this truck with 10,000 miles? Will be dropping off DW at the Ft. Wayne airport in the AM and will stop by a nearby Chevy dealer. Just wondering if there is any self help suggestings as the owners manual is void on any suggestions other then visit the dealer.

Can't offer specific help as I have a Ford, but I've gone through "contaminated DEF" messages etc. that turned out to be a bad NOx sensor that required replacement. At 10K any work should be covered under warranty.

Thank you. Now at a Chevy dealer in Ft. WAYNE, IN and hoping for resolve.

When I dump 2-3 gallons of DEF in after having the "low" warning, all my info center will tell me is the fluid level is "ok". It is not possible to actually see the fluid level. Wondering if your reservoir indicator is not reading the level correctly. Maybe its the same as the blank tanks in our Redwoods. Let us know.

I drove back from the Rally in one shot to Dallas. Several hundred miles from home, I got the warning of Low def. Since I did have a box of blue Def in the back and it was late at night I wanted to see what would happen if I ignore the warnings.
1. When it was really low, it told me that my speed was now limited to 69 then 65 MPH. So I kept going.
2. Then when it was out, the display said I was out but then also said I had 400+ ml left. So I kept going
3. The 400ml kept counting down, about 1ml per mile.
4. Looks like I could have gone another 400 miles after I was warned I was out. But I arrived home before that happened.
Moral of the story, I no longer will be stressed out when the display says I have Low Def. This is for GMC.

Two sensors failed in the exhaust system. Both were in stock so heading back to Shipshewana with a happy truck. DEF level is displayed on the center dash display along with a bunch of other data. I was at full. Just one of those things. Now back to having fun!

Love the fact that my Ram shows how much is left, looks just like the fuel gauge.

I'll bet they were NOx sensors! All the manufacturers seem to have a problem with them.

I've got 60,000 miles on my 2014 ford F350. If I let it go past 1/2 a tank and fill it up it shows 1/2 a tank until tomorrow. I think it has something to do with the way DEF fluid dries out as white hard crusty chips. After filling they become liquefied again and don't stick to everything.
Being the OCD guy that I am after roughly every 1000 to 1200 miles I just add a gallon and never had it stick again.
