Stock Rim Defect?

We had a MAJOR blow out about 18 months ago. It did quite a bit of damage to the Redwood, requiring several months in the "hospital" for repairs.
We recently noticed a small fracture in the spoke of another wheel. I had thought this whole time that the blowout we had was caused by a bad tire and the damage to the affected rim was just a byproduct of said blowout. Now I think there's a defect in the rims.
The picture will show you what was left of the wheel after our blowout. We are replacing all of our rims. I encourage everyone to closely inspect those wheels, especially looking for hailine cracks!

I saw similar rim damage to SOB a few years ago. The owner had like 14 ply sidewall tires installed and greatly increased their tire pressure. Rim stated max pressure on the rim. They exceeded that warning and paid the price. I couldn’t believe the tire shop installed those tires exceeding the recommended max pressure.

I would say without question this was a rim failer! I would see if you can get a good set of 17.5" wheels and replace all of them ASAP!

I had two OEM rims develop pin hole leaks. First shortly after delivery, the second didn't show up until three years later. Since we lost faith in those rims, at the 2019 Rally we ordered the Rim/Sailun tire combo and put them on while at the Rally

When I took delivery of my 2020, I had a set of G114 and HiSpec series 03 Rims waiting for it to show up..

Once it showed up and I had it home, my tire guy came to the house and it took him 30 minutes to make the swap as they were already mounted and balanced....
