Tire Warning

We were towing the 2012 36RE that we had just purchased back home when one of the Goodyear Marathon's exploded less than 500 miles down the road. It caused quite a bit of damage to the fender and underside areas. After the blowout I checked this Forum only to find out that the Marathon has been a source of problems for many. The rest of the tires were promptly replaced with G614's and new wheels. I have sent this information to Goodyear customer service and am waiting for a reply.

As always - take pics and if you can, save the tire carcass - goodyear was good about paying for all damage when mine went but I documented it all including keeping the tire carcass...

You replaced the Marabombs with a great tire. Goodyear has been good about reimbursing for damage to the RV, at least according to the Montana forum.

Thanks for the information. I did save what was left of the carcass and took many photos. Will update as to resolution of the issue.

Goodyear tire problem resolved

I received a check in the mail today from Goodyear for $5,900 to cover the cost of repairs and a replacement tire. With the information from this forum I called Goodyear and got a claim number, took the tire carcass to a local Goodyear store, got an estimate for repairs and sent photos of damage. A couple of weeks later I got an email with Claim Release to sign and sent it back. There were no questions or hassles involved. A thumbs up for handling the problem, a thumbs down for manufacturing an unsafe product.
Special thanks to johnboytoo

Glad it helped

Sorry to hear of your issue. Glad Goodyear is standing behind their product. That is one of the reasons that I will only run their trailer tires

I had 2 Marathons blow in August. Almost $5,000 in damages. Took the carcasses to local dealer and had them sent to Ohio. Filed a claim with Goodyear and was reimbursed for 2 tires and my insurance deductible. Insurance company subrogated the damages and Goodyear reimbursed them. Sad part about this is that I had a set of "G" tires in the garage to replace the Marathons but I wanted to replace the shackles at the same time but had not gotten to it.
