Tri-glide gliding....

Coming home this weekend I had a bit of what I would call slop in the inbox... Once home, I grabbed my grease gun and wanted to grease the 9 fittings for the tri-glide... It was then that I realized that I could move the bottom plate forward and backward very easily, even after I added grease...
Does this sound right? I get a clunking when I start or stop....

Yep, mine does the same and it was the same on our 2012 36RL, does not operate like the Demco Glide that it was suppose to copy.
So I'm debating changing to the Flex-Air at the Rally. There has to be some reason that Lippert is no longer selling the Tri-Glide to Retail Customers.

My new Tri Glide that was replaced by Redwood / Lippert last year is still working smooth, I considered changing to the Flex Air but probably will get some wear out of the new Tri Glide first.
Lippert needs to get of their A$$ and sell the lower jaw as a update for the Tri Glide to convert it to a Flex Air.

Ours, the same type as yours is still working after four years however we have less than 4,000 miles on our RW.

Ours is the same as Michelle and Joe. Going to change Pinbox at or before the Rally, don't trust the Tri Glide and tired of the banging.
Will probably be changing hitch to a Comfortride and if I do that will go with a MorRyde Pinbox .

Will have a nice 25k Reese Elite for sale .........

I really like riding on air, but not with the clunking... I thought about swapping while I am at MORRyde , but can't get past the air thing....

I still think if you could combine the TrailAir with the air bag and the Mor/ryde pin you would have the best of both worlds. I've even wondered if you could remove the Lower Jaw on the Tri-Glide and weld on a Mor/ryde pin.

A good welder could install whatever lower you want on the pinbox

inspect it very carefully! Roberts actually broke, and I think there was another. Mine never did start clunking, nor did I ever grease it. Strange it would just suddenly start.

I did for a while.... Inside and out... All looks fine, and no lateral movement either.. I will keep myb eye on it. I added grease to all 9 zerks ... I actually thought about having my welder make it a non moving part

Ps . .
Brad ,It's good to see you slumming it over here with us!!!

When my Glide Portion of my Tri Glide broke and I had it welded stationary to get back on the road, the ride difference was dramatic.
I had much more chucking on the roads as I headed from TX up to Tennessee and back to Florida to get the replacement Tri Glide installed.

Still a little nervous about running the Tri Glide and would really love to switch to the Flex Air and get away from the mechanical Glide Plates and grease fittings.
Been spending a lot of money correcting Redwood / Lippert product design issues, where does it end ?

After really inspecting the tri glide ,it got me thinking....

With the physics of motion , those roller tubes are under tremendous strain every time they roll forward or backward and STOP.. That motion is usually during starting or stopping, which tells me the force is greatest at those points.

I don't know.... Just don't know...

To fully understand the situation you need to view the Demco Glide to understand how it actually works, then you can see that Lippert sort of made and upside down version when they tried to copy it, but in the end it doesn't perform as the Demco.
Talk to a DRV owner who had a unit with the Demco and now has a unit with the Tri-Glide. I have and they say the Tri-Glide doesn't even come close to the Demco Glide, and with some of the issues with the Tri-Glide maybe that's why it's not for sale to Retail Customers.
