Truck to tow with

I recently purchased an F350 Duelly to tow a 2013 36RL and just returned from a 1500 mile trip with great results. I previously towed with a 3500 Ram and had no problems. The reason that I went with the Ford is that I couldn't get adaptive cruise control in the Ram or in any GM heavy duty truck. All of the "Big Three" have adaptive cruise control in their 1/2 ton trucks but only Ford make it available in their heavy duty ones. Once you have adaptive cruise, you won't want to be without it. I also appreciate the 48 gallon fuel tank in the Ford as well as the built in tailgate step & handle. All of the "Big Three" do an admirable job of towing as I have friends with all 3, but the features Available, made Ford stand out for me.

I had a 2000 dodge 3500 dw. with the 5.9 manual and could not pull my 39mb loaded so I replaced it with a 1998 international and I love it. I get 14mpg empty and 11.5 loaded. I was going to buy a new dodge but the cost was too high. My international was less than $25000. and in great condition.

ISB With Manual Transmission
  • Peak Torque: 460 LB-ft (from 1600 to 2700 rpm)
  • Advertised Power: 235 hp @ 2700 rpm
  • Governed Speed*: 3200 rpm
  • No Load High Idle: 3500 RPM

I can see why the early trucks didn't have the power that the newer trucks made by any of the big 3.

Todays trucks have 400hp and well over 750ft lbs if they are built after 2013.

Did a little to my 2013 F350 Dually. Air intake and innovative diesel tune. Noticeable difference. They told me to exp Ct 475 hp and a little over 900 ft lbs torque. Seems about right. Pulling the whole train I get 10 mpg on fairly level roads and the mountains here out west haven't been too much of an issue.

The biggest thing is do your own homework as far as truck & rv weights!!!
DO NOT take ANY salesmans, rv or truck, word about towing, they are there to sell & most don't have any idea or care about what can tow or be towed by what.
